could i take out the black shield covering the radiator fan without harming anything? bcuz i've seen alot of pics without it on, so i was wondering if that'll be ok, and will i gain any performance from it?

does it go all the way aroung the fan?
also on mine there are ome wires that are attatched to the fan guard:aw:
Performance gains? None... Extra room... Yes. Loose wires will find their way in way of your fan... not really worth it IMO unless your getting a Electric fan.

The guard is actually (nissan official description) designed to manipulate the flow of air from the fan towards the radiator....is it actually critical and necessary to accomplish this??? I dont think so, mine starting cracking at one of the supports and I might just yank it for safety reasons and go "guardless"........

YES, the fan shroud is necessary to direct air through the radiator. Without the shroud you might as well remove the fan entirely because it's just swirling the air.
