So heres the story, I have been trying to get this new build running. The car has not been driven since the motor went back in. All the car has done is try to start or idle with about a half tank of gas at a time (I cant drive it so I fill up a 5 gallon container and fill it) It was running rich due to some faulty wide band wiring, bad coils, and working on the fuel map with Mr. Shadows. I have put 5 gallon in it twice, yea it was realllll rich. Burning eyes rich! But it still has about 3-4 gallons of the second fill left in it.

So it sat, I moved from FL to MD, switched to ls2 coils, changed injectors replaced the few things I didnt etc and just got it to the point of getting ready to run. So I go to crank it and its trying to turn over but it wont so im just diagnosing some things, missed a ground on the coils, heard the pump prime etc and recheck everything and next time I turn the key I hear nothing. No pump whine, nothing. I check the fuse, good. Check ground/power at the plug, good. No fuel pressure/gas, WTF! Even if the tank was bone dry 1. it would have at least whined and 2. the gauge/light would have been on.

But can this really happen with literally no miles on it at all and probably a combined running time of about 2-3 hours tops spread over several weeks. Is it because when it was running it was sitting in little gas? The tank was clean when I put it in. Im stumped and its making me consider something else instead of a walbro.

Make sure the harness is seated into the pump. They tend to work their way out if you don't seat it fully.

The pump is cooled by the fuel passing through the body and being submerged. Running it dry or near dry can burn it up.

Wouldn't doubt it... Walbros suck! thats why theyre like 80 bucks LOl

i ran one... started making funny sounds, then my motor pre-detonated. I'm not saying its the fuel pump, but no one else knows what happened.... LOL

Yea Im really considering a denso pump...But it sucks if I had gone with that to begin with it would have been cheaper!

If you did indeed burn it up, I would be reluctant to blame Walbro. My guess would be due to running it with little fuel in there. Ive had much better luck with Walbro than Denso.

You probably burned it up. If you only filled the tank up to 5 gallons and let it run down that probably did it. I always fill my tank up when it reaches the 1/4th marker which is about 4 gallons still left in the tank. I would check the wiring first though, also make sure the ECU isnt throwing any codes.

So I pulled it out and yea the tank that I thought was clean is totally crap on the inside. The sock was all red with rust and debris. The gas I pumped out of it that was old was not red and had no debris in it. So I guess pouring in the new stuff loosened all the shit up. Damn...now to clean and seal or buy a new one...

Wont put any pump in there until its fixed...

Hmm this makes me worry that mine might be going south because I cant hear it as much,Whats the fuel pressure under load suppossed to be at?
