it will still start if the maf is bad...jus idle real high in safe mode...you prob have a wiring issue. who did your wiring?

have you checked to see if you have sufficiant fuel pressure ?

The car wont necessarily start with a bad maf. I just fixed a buddy's car that would start for like 1 second then die. It was the maf. The way i diagnosed it was to just unplug the maf, and after that it started just fine. So, unplug your maf and if it starts while its unplugged then its most likely your maf. Also, the FSM has a pretty extensive section on how to test the maf. Also, did you check if your car has fuel and spark?

\i changed the fuel Pump couse it had the old stock one. measured the pressure from the fuel filter in and out from the Intake manifold or fuel rail. some times I think that it would be Fuel pressure regulator. some of you guys are right about the MAF. im going to do that on saturday since i'm busy the weekdays.

I had a problem like this with my RB25DET NEO. The car would start up sometimes and die off randomly and was running really rich. I was getting fuel pressure and spark. The CEL was telling me it was MAF. But i was using the correct MAF for my engine. I tried another MAF, still same problem. i finally realized the voltage going to the MAF was to much. The wires i was using were to thick! the guage was to big. So i changed the wires to the correct voltage and it runs perfect.

Check the voltage going to the MAF, make sure its right.
Check to see if your fuel pump is working and make sure your FPR is running fine.
Check for spark.

Check ECU for Codes.
Check Fuel injectors for leaks
Check Coolant temp Sensor
