I was comin' through the gate like 10 minutes ago n this guy n his friend who were checkin' id's started talkin' so much mad shit about import cars that i wanted to fuckin' shoot them both on their left nut or something. neway, he was like u can turbocharge ur car fucking two times and you still won't beat me. Which I could care less about cuz i said that he's got a nice car and good for him n such before he said that. Anyways, what r the stats on these cars cuz he has just become my new target and inspiration to build my car up for, n if i can't do it w/ this i'll go out n buy a fuckin' gt-r just so that i can shut his dumbass up. Him and his lil' dip shit friend need to die! Tell me what to do! I guess i can see how the 240 might not ever be able to take it (really hoping this ain't the case <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>), but if it is i just wanna know what those bad boys can do cuz i still got respect for the car, just that the marine shouldn't be driving it. 93 gt 5.0 mustang if u can't remember the thread name btw. thanks.

Mmm... it's pretty late right now, so I might not be thinkin' to the best of my ability, but....
All I'm thinking right now is for you to use the mustang's weight against him by outcornering his ass. Not saying that I actually know the exact weight of a mustang, I'm just *guessing that it weighs a lot more than a 240sx by the fact that it looks a lot bigger.
Yea, but if you ask him to race with corners, he'll probably say something like, "You're weak...blah blah... lets just drag race... blah blah." If he says that, you can just make fun of how his mustang corners like a one-legged, overweight woman with a kick-stand for a foot.

Um, stock, they're like a little more than 200HP. But they have tons of potential (and parts available) for mods. But if he's stock you shouldnt need too much to beat him.

where are you stationed? most marines are dumbasses anyway...so it would be fitting to see them drive one. when i was stationed at lejeune, all i saw were eclipses and grand ams. but get an SR or turbo your KA and build the fuck out of it then go race him and still tell him that a chevette would out corner his car. he sounds like a redneck anyway.

Did you mean to imply it was supercharged? That throws everything out the window. Could have any amount of power. If it is a stock drivetrain, a moderate KA turbo will eat it. If DJ's specs are right, should be a close match for an SR. I'm not certain on the Mustang gearing, all I know is my friends has only a 5k or so redline (v6).
Anyhow, it's just somebody spouting off to look cool for his friend, nothing to get all worked up over.

mike240, remember, i'm at cherry point w/ family. i lived in okinawa 2, on kadena, but went to foster a lot too. yeah, it's supercharged. but man, i've never heard neone talk so much shit n have so much anger towards imports. i mean, u should've seen his face man, he must've thought he struck fear into me or something. 2 other lines that pissed me off were "is that just a fucking 4 banger, that ain't shit compared to my 5.0" (yes, a military gate guard who's supposed to show respect to ppl said those exact words to me w/ another gate guard, his friend right by him) and "just make sure i don't see you on the road cuz i'll fucking smoke u." it's like who gives a fuck, ur an idiot. i wanted to go back, get out of my car, walk up to him, poke him in the eye, jump back into my car, floor it, n drive off w/ my evil laugh right after i threw 10 grenades at his mustang. don't get me wrong, i know his car would kill mine btw. more input would be appreciated. i'm still pissed.

And I know that the 5.0 was: 225hp and 300ft/lbs of torque
I dunno about the weight of the car, but I am positive that my numbers are correct, I have owned 3 5.0 mustangs. Its a great engine, lots of potential. There is also alot of after market support for them. And if he is S/C your gonna have a hard time matching that, they put out big numbers. I think there is also a Twin Turbo kit out for the 5.0 as well, its supposed to be hella sweet.

me either icetekguy. i mean, i like certain american cars, i like certain import cars. i hate some american cars, i hate some imports. but i hate how when ppl only love american cars only. fuck, i wish i had a ka-t w/ about 10k in it. i would've raced him, then after i won, i'd wait up for him n tell him that we should race again in front of his friends, either that or i'd throw some random foreign object at his face n drive off for no aparent reason.

yeah, i live in the bay area (california) and a lot of guys from the oakland vicinity race the 5.0. i've seen em take on rx7's, supras and the like. i don't hate the car but it seems like the people that drive em have the most inflated heads on the planet. oh well, with my money situation, all i can do is sit back and watch.... for now...

i got my solution for killing mustangs. 96 6 speed camaro z28. only $6000, and in a few weeks, it shall be mine. already got the down payment. the reason why i'm buying it is because i'm going to dump about $11,000 into my 240sx within the next year or two, and i need a daily driver. doesn't that sound strange.
anyway, i think everyone but one person forgot the S/C part in the topic! the supercharged mustang i raced with my friends 300ZX TT was about as fast as cars i've seen run 12.7 in the quarter mile. you'd need 300 or more horsepower and good tires to beat him i would think.

the 93's had reduced hp so they had 215hp. they had somewhere in the 260ft-lbs of torque region stock. i forgot how do caluclate the hp of an engine with boost. something like each psi you multiply it by 10 and add it to the hp the engine has w/o the boost. im not quite sure ill have to check with my buddy. its a rough estimate. hes probably running anywhere from 6 to 10psi with a s/c. it also depends on how much internal work hes gone and exhaust intake headers plugs ignition etc etc. ask him how much hes invested in it.

I'm pretty sure Superchargers give roughly 6-7 hp per lb of boost. so about 70hp at 10 psi with supporting mods he could have up to 400hp. Tough to beat.
Mustangs suck ass, but the fact remains they have four more cylinders than us. You put down 350hp w/lsd, and some wide tires, and a tight ass clutch, and you will take his sorry ass. And you'll do it with much more style than the mustang could hope for.
Of course, you must remember the 240 is not a drag car. And was never intended for that. The mustang was. He has an advantage in that type of race. But no matter how much HP he has, I would bet a Stock 240 would take his ass in the corners ANY day.

I used to have a 94 Z28 and I fucked up 5.0's all the time.. Not to mention 4.6 gt's.... In 8 months I think I only lost to 2 mustangs.. I'm a chevy fan anyway :-D

I used to love fox body mustangs.....that is until they turned into the "all american trailer trash hotrod". I mean, in the late 70's early 80's...it was those sick ass Camaros (Trans Am's if you had $$)......and now the torch has been passed to the fox body mustang. The reason is simple.....most bang for your buck, and huge aftermarket support. You can find beat ass 5.0's for sale everywhere.....and those are the ones that get purchased by trash...then slowly rebuilt and modded...in an attempt to have bragging rights at the local bowling alley or cruise strip. I know you've all seen those guys.......their cars have UNPAINTED white fiberglass cowl induction hoods, sick ass Cragar rims, and always look like the guy put every last penny into it.
Dont get me wrong...Mustangs can be cool (if you do something unique with it..and arent a cookie cutter car),....shit...I've seen those twin turbo kits.....1,100 HP or something sick like that.......but those kits are also like 7-8K, minus the labor.
I think its FAR more slick to build something up (like the 4 cylinder 240SX) to be competitive with the big boys, than to just buy something off the shelf that competes. You all know those kids in HS who would turn 16 and get a new white Trans Am 25th anniversary edition....and would keep it stock and spank everybody. Screw them....all that proves is that any idiot with a fat bankroll can buy anything from the factory and compete. The fact that a 4 cylinder car can be modded to compete with something twice its size (8cyl vs 4cyl)..shoot...thats awesome its self.
If you wanna compete, rebuild and turbo your KA. Get a JWT ecu with NOS programming....LSD...exhaust, etc...
Some guys talk tough, but are wussies when it comes to pushing the car hard. Mustangs are knows for spinning the tires at launch, because there not much weight over the wheels. The rears dont "squat" (like Corvettes) when launched. If you can beat him off the line....then once he starts to catch up....hit the NOS.....and then see who has bigger balls (top speed).
Or you could just import...and rebuild a RB25DET..with lightened flywheel, bore it out to 2.6 .....turbo upgrade...then get NOS for that. Good luck finding parts tho.

Oh yeah...something else I just thought of that will piss you off.....I live in Charlotte NC...and there is some kid in town with a white 96 GT mustang....lowered suspension........ANNNNND he has a GT-R emblem on the rear trunk hatch. I thought the car looked sweet when it was approaching..then when it passes I saw the GT-R emblem (which they sell at AutoZone for $5)...and I was totally pissed. He probably has never even heard of a Skyline. I've been thinking about getting some RiceCop ( http://www.ricecop.com ) tickets and leaving one on under his wiper.

ive seen em at 19psi. my freind has a 5.0 with full internals str8 pipes clutch headers and supercharger. hes got 650hp with 10psi

Not that I'm really backing Mustangs, cause I think they went to #### since the mid 70's, buuuuuutt.....
When I was in Cali last weekend, my Uncle came down in his Cobra GT, and it makes about 260 hp stock. Stock 0-60 is 5.7 5.8ish seconds. We did one run at 6.17 before he went back home and found out the people that put his new tires on ran them to 50 psi, hence our traction problems.
In a straight line, the GT's will absolutely smoke a stock 240, providing the person driving it know's what he's doing. Cornering on the other hand, forget it. 240 all the way. And besides that a turbo KA would wipe the pavement with a stock GT. And as much as I hate the "typical" marine, although my buddy is one and he's not an ass, a lot of them do have nice cars that go pretty fast. Point being, yeah the guy you refer to was probably ignorant, but in a 1/4 mile, he'd probably still beat you unless he was a really bad driver.

Yea... 0-60 in 4.8. That's absolutely nuts!! Too bad the M3 isn't really too cool compared to the M5 =P. And on that same note... too bad the M5 is very very expensive!!

yea i saw that van does a 12.4 or so. its turbo. that m5 is sooo bad ass. theres no other car that can handle accelarate and carry 5 people at the same time. ok there are but not in the u.s.

ok I have a buddy here in cali with a 98 Cobra its not to be messed with. 4.6 qaud DOHC all aluminum V8 vortech supercharger putting out somewhere between 450-500HP griggs racing suspension . full ladder bars . hIs car is just tight and fast I have driven it. It handles great it goes like stink. It still feels like a big american car . can't get away from it. Its also not exotic enough for me. I mean if I am gonna own an American monster its going to be a Viper GTS, plain and simple. Now thats a bad ass american car.

Well I have no love for mustangs to say the least. It seems that everyone and there brother has or has had one and they all think they have the baddest car on the planet. Now in realitly yes there are gobs of parts for them so they can go pretty freakin fast. A stock 5.0 aint sheet though. A 240 with a good driver will hang pretty close to a 5.0 or a 4.6 thats stock. Lastly muskrats handle like crap. They are light in the rear and slide the back end around.
