Hey guy while reading Hamburgs thread (http://zilvia.net/f/cars-sale/350094-hamburgs-s14-may-up-sale-bidding-wars-begin-57dmaximum-ti-inside.html) I came across this VERY interesting post: "I think that the 240 community should set up a club that you buy into and pay small monthly fees kind of like an insurance. They have these for motorcyclists so when things like this arise as long as you are a member you car gets bailed out or it could pay for a lawyer. hmm anyone wanna get this started." Quoted by: P-Funk alot. I like this Idea and if theres anyone on here that would like help with starting a club/Safety/impoundment/legal car fund for members of Zilvia with a S13/S14. If there's anyone who has some kind of exprence in this area please feel free to chime in. If you don't like this idea PLEASE don't flame this thread this about the community and the cars folks!

So some of you don't get confused I think to even join this little group your driving record can not be spotty like a jackson pollock painting:mephfawk: and if your prone to dumb shit don't think about joining. This is folks who respect there cars not for some kid who saw some video on youtube. Chime in! I got lots of time on my hands ( I'm a @ home dad! and proud of it!) I thin k this is very important to us folks hell I did some research and the Mustang, Camaro, and hell even guys with lifted trucks have a fund!?!?!?!?

It wouldn't work.

Who's to say who/what the money would go to when a problem arises?

"Got caught street drifting, need funds to get my car out and may off fines" (Obviously not this person, but what if he paid his "monthly fees", then starts to bitch and moan when he doesn't get help?)

"Pulled over, cop popped my hood, found SR, impounded my car. Need money to pay off fines"

People on this forum don't have too much money in the first place. If they had enough money to be putting into a "club" that they most likely won't end up needing/using, they can just as easily put that money directly into their savings account and save up for more important things.

It's a cool idea but I highly doubt it would work.

The majority of the people that would need to use something like this probably deserve to be in the situation they're in because of their own actions. I'm not saying everyone would, because of course there would be a few exceptions like Hamburg who was just a victim of a bad sequence of events, but for most it will be their own fault.

I'll keep watching to see where this goes though.

I agree with everyone else on this one.

There will be that ONE (or a couple) assholes who decides to fuck shit up even if we had members put in money. It's real good idea but who would we send our money to and why should we trust that person?

In the name of money, there is a bunch of greedy people here.

And like thefro said: "The majority of the people that would need to use something like this probably deserve to be in the situation they're in because of their own actions."

What kind of judging system would we use to justify the necessity to use money from the club?

The idea is good but on a forum, there's a lot of sketchy problems to come along with it.

As already stated... won't ever work. Who plays god? Who gets to arbitrarily decide who gets money and how much?

In theory it's a great idea... but in reality, it's a terrible one.

240 owners are typically broke cheap asses that can't even afford Premie status on their favorite website, we don't have a huge love for each other like other car enthusiasts and too many are young and still making stupid decisions.

To big a community, if we where Toyota 2000GT owners or Yenko Camaro owners club, then sure, we'd all pretty much know everyone and have had a lot of face time. With countless thousands of owners and members, some heavily active, some not.. won't work.

...then again, with all those dues... one could make a profitably company.

$200 a month?

wow....

i too have thought of that, and what would justify the situation. Honestly, I did put this on myself, and this all could have been fixed if I was given correct information. None the less, I am extremely thankful that people offered to donate. And at first, I refused to take donations ( i think people should work for something..and never given). But my wife kept telling me that "these people are trying to help, you wouldn't refuse an extra hand while swapping a motor, why would you deny people that WANT to help".....

so I did. And blamo...the community came together, and got my car out. No fucking lie. it was amazing! And I couldn't be more thankful. I have changed as a person ( i used to be the i'll help if they ask type person) and now i feel more like BH....why NOT help....what does it hurt...well nothing!!

If anything, this pool would be great, but in reality, who's going to be god? you can't....buuuuuuut, who says you can't ask for help? and people may come to the rescue. I think what I did, was the most reasonable scenario....just because if people wanted to help, they could, if they didn't, then you won't have people trying to justify where "their" money went.

Worst would be if this money added up, and went to someone, and then another person need that help as well,.....it wouldn't be there. That would also be unfair.

great idea...but too many un-honest people in the world.

I've never been a premie cause I didn't have paypal at the time. Now I do, so i'll probably be a "premie" in the next month or two. lol
