Got Sileighty?

ok i just picked up some 16x7, and 16x8 wheels. i know i can go with 205 on the 16x7 cuz ive seen them on my friend's car. after some modest searching on this forum, im thinking 215s for the 16x8, will this be a stretch? would it be better to go 225?
i figured the best way to answer these questions is for the guys/gals who have 215 or 225 on 8" wide wheel to post pics of them. i dont really want the stretched look, but i dont want a lot of bulging either. thanks.

225/50 is very flat sidewall wise.. that's what i have on my GT-Rs

put the 215's in the back , it'll be a slight stretch, it'll be nice.

The tire design would also depend on how the 225 will look. A friend has the es100's on his 16s and they look good.....the sidewalls on those tires make them look "stretched" whereas some tires like an azenis would look flush, some cheapo tires might even bulge.
any tire in 215 should look kinda stretched.

Don't stretch tires if it's unnecessary because it's pointless if it's not meant for your type of driving. I'd go with the 225 on the 8" and 215 for the front.

225 on the 8"... no more, no less, it perfect. Lots of stretching is as pointless as lots of bulge.

225/50 is usually less expensive than 215-section tires for 16" wheels. 225 is a more common size, thus cheaper.

nice, I was thinking about picking those up but you beat me to it hahaha
Did sam tell you if it will be flush to the fenders or anything? I'm curious of that.

It really does depend on the tire you use.
I run 245/45/16 all around on 16x8 wheels and they dont bulge AT ALL. Right now I have RE730's and I also have a set of FK451, both tires dont bulge.
See for yourself, here is an older pic of my car..

Both FD and R32 owners come with factory 16x8 wheels, both 225/50 and 245/45 are commonly used. I've had both, one set of 225's and one set of 245's, both were fun. Ultimately, the 245's are wider and have more traction.. but not as fun WHEN NEW if you want to try to get the car sideways. Shiet, if you wanna go sideways why even have a 8" wide wheel? You'll want something thinner anyway..

Choosing tires based on how they look...
It's like a whole new kind of rice.

its not about looks, its about the function.
a tire that bulges means that the tire flexes. a tire that is tapered in means that the tire does not flex at all, this setup can serve a purpose. i personally prefer a tire that looks like a block, both 225 and 245 gave me that appearance.. one was just a bit wider.
On the 16x7.5's the 225's fit like a glove. On the 16x8's the 245's fit like a glove.
I have 235s on 17x8s and they have no flex at all... 225 would be narrow imho!

thanks for all the input again people.
but i have some bad news, in the process of trying to clean the wheels (which failed btw :( ), i found a ~ 2inch hairline crack on the inner lip on one of the wheels. what should i do?
would it be safe to ride on these? should i just put some epoxy glue on the crack and let it be? i need help.

Look in the phone book ? ? ? find a wheel place that can fix em....if it's a hairline they should be able to fix it.
