I knew I shouldn't have looked.
I was poking around my engine bay today at a meet and I noticed that the paint at the bottom of the strut towers, where they're welded to the frame rails, was flaky. Uh oh. Feel around a bit, I've got a healthy amount of rust at those welds, especially on the driver's side.
This wouldn't bother me so much if my 240SX were a daily driver, but it sees most of its miles on the track being driven HARD. Now I'm paranoid of having my strut towers rip right out of the body.
This definitely changes my plans about the car, I just don't want to spend any more money on this chassis. I'll probably drive it in its current state of tune for another year then just part it out. Hopefully I can find a nice rust free S13 coupe somewhere and transfer my good parts over.
