After being inspired by Damon's build thread and getting backed into by a Jeep I'm thinking about taking the opportunity to upgrade the look of my daily a bit. Currently I've got http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p112/sxj6151/NICO2/DSCN0051.jpg Installed in my Zenki bumper thusly:

careful it's HUGE!

Anyone have any pics of those same fog lights installed on a Chuki bumper all proper style? I ask because I have no bumper support and I ended up fabbing up a bracket to attach the light brackets to my radiator support. Just bolting them to the bumper didn't work well. So with the Chuki would it be possible to bolt them up to essentially just the bumper skin and have some stability or would they flap around until the bumper broke off? Bonus points for pics of the fogs on a chuki with a Xenon lip and a front mount ;)

On a side note I couldn't endorse these fogs more, amazing cutoff, solid adjustablility and with the 3000k HIDs in them probably more effective than my terrible H4 ebay headlights. :eek3d:

The fogs I have on my car were an OEM option on Chuki 180's in Japan. They've got factory plugs and a mounting plate that is suppose to mount to some part of the chuki bumper. Here's the best pic I've got from the Chuki brochure:

I'm curious if the mounting plates bolt just to the bumper skin, or if they use the bumper support or both. I'd like to switch to a Chuki bumper but if these won't bolt up right I may consider other options.

They bolt to the support.

Think about what you're asking, if they mounted just to cover, they would bounce around like crazy, the cover is way too flimsy to support anything.

On the contrary my pig nose supported them admirably before I got more than a little carried away cutting it up for the Intercooler(car came without a bumper support). A lot of that can probably be accredited to that 3 sided piece that splits the opening in the middle adds more rigidity than you'd expect from a big piece of rubber. Maybe if I can find a Chuki with a radiator support I'll still go that route and just man up and buy a cutoff wheel. Thanks for the help!

The Chuki foglight brackets replace the thin retaining bracket that secures the cover to the reinforcement at the top of the opening. Lines right up with OE holes. You could probably build brackets, but it's just as easy to put a reinforcement back in the car and trim it for the intercooler, instead of leaving it out. That way you also have some crash protection up front as well.
