I am thinking about buying a 1995 240 and swapping in a SR motor instead of the stock KA. I was thinking about purchasing one of the imported motors from that you see on ebay.com alot. My first question is has anyone here ever purchased one of those motors? And how hard would the swap actually be?
What are the differences between the redtop and blacktop?

there should be enough info on the forums for you to be able to swap it yourself with a little bit of mechanical knowledge... like stated above check their selling history to make sure they are a good company... i bought my last sr20 motor from a ebay company and it was a good deal. start using the search button and gather your info

be sure to set aside enough money for not only the engine, trans, ecu ect but you will need: wiring service, fmic/smic, downpipe, catback exhaust, radiator and lines or a line kit to use stock ka radiator, and if you have some extra money i would put new accessories on before u install such as water pump, rocker arm stoppers...anyone else feel free to chime in as to things needed! good luck

Expect to spend around $3500-5000 to do this properly.

the car i found has an automatic transmission, is it difficult to convert to manual? i was told i would have to cut the firewall? i know im going to have to run cylinders and a clutch line, how hard is that?

no its not hard to turn it from auto. you don't even have to cut the firewall just drill holes.
