has anyone ever compared an orc or other aftermarket throw out bearing and sleeve required for most twin plate setups, to an oem one? i am wondering if the dimensions are any different or if they are just made for more horsepower. No one from any shops have been able to answer my question. I mainly need to know if the aftermarket orc bearing and sleeve is shorter than stock bearing and sleeve

For a twin plate clutch...everything is shorter. Shorter TOB and even shorter carrier...

is that a fact? if so how much shorter are the sleeve and bearing setups generally?, because my motor wont even seat down almost a half inch because the stock bearing and sleeve are too tall

Its a fact for my OS Giken Twin plate (TS2B) clutch, hell, I had to change the TOB and carrier for my ORC 409D. Twin plates are so much more thicker than stock and single plates. You have to get a shorter TOB/carrier combo to make up for the extra thickness. If you dont, the fork will be pushing against the tranny and the car will act like you're constantly riding the clutch.

sweet cause thats my EXACT problem, and thats what i was crossing my fingers to hear from someone exactly... all i ever hear is that the aftermarket ones are just good for more horspower. i was hoping it was the same case as i am in, i thought it might be cause im running an rb20 tranny on rb25 motor but it shouldn have mattered cause they use the same clutch

My Nismo twin plate has a shorter throw-out bearing. My ORC 409D super single is recommended to have a aftermarket TOB, but I am running the stock one right now. I had a friend put a super single in his car and modded the pin coming out of the slave cylinder going to the clutch fork so that he could use the stock TOB. You MIGHT be able to do something like that in order to save money and retain the OEM TOB, just an idea.

RB20 trans on RB25 motor? I hope you dont plan to push high hp through that thing, unless you build it first.

rb20 mission will bolt to a rb25, no problem. rb20 mission is only good for 300-350hp though.

shortening the slave cylinder pin wont really help you if the clutch is pre-loading due to the fork/TOB pushing against the back of the transmission...this will definitely be the case for any twin plate if you utilize the stock carrier.

i ordered the bearing and sleeve so we will see what happens
