I have this 1990 240sx that for some reason now I have to double clutch into every gear and also I cannot get into reverse. Now briefly before this started happening my slave cylinder blew and I had a hard time shifting then. So I swapped in a new slave cylinder and bled it (I don't have a bleeder block in the way just straight line). Now if it's still having a hard time shifting into any gear and won't shift into reverse is that the transmission or the clutch fork or my not bleeding it correctly?
If it is the transmission I have a rebuilt one standing by ready to be installed however it is for a s13 ka24de. I heard they have different bell housing but other topics have said they are the same so I don't know. Anyway the easiest way for me to swap just the gear boxes would be to seperate the gear box from the bellhousing and swap it with the ka24de and mount onto the ka24e still attached to the engine correct? Or is this not a sign of tranny failure and more of a clutch system not bled fully or bent pivot fork or something?
Thanks in advance.

The clutch fully engages and disengages correct?
Do the gears grind when you shift into them without double clutching? If so i would say its probably the transmission, most likely the syncros. But im not a trans expert just sharing the info i have learned.
Also the bellhousing and trans themselves are the same from kae to kade

Ok gotcha.
Yes, The clutch fully engages and disengages. I can keep it in first gear, on a flat plane, with my foot on the clutch and the car doesn't move. Also, Yes, the gears grind if you don't double clutch or rev match as well as it's impossible to get it into reverse. That's why I figured the gearbox is shot - it's got like 200k miles on it so it's to be expected.
Can I just take the back end of the transmission off the bellhousing then and put the rebuilt trans right on there where the old gear box is or are the bolts impossible to get to and I'll have to jack the engine up a little to unbolt the gear box? I'm trying to do all this without disconnecting the bellhousing that's already there and not having to unbolt the whole tranny from the engine since I figure that'd be the easiest. Are the sensors the same from the ka24de going on to a ka24e (both s13 engines not s14)?

I dont know if the bolts for the gear box are accessable with the bell housing still on the engine, you could always try. As for sensors and what not from single to twin cam as long as they are s13's there should be no problem.
And if you dont mind me asking how much did it cost to rebuild that other trans and what all did you replace?

I didn't rebuild it. I got it used off one of the forums - this one or 240sxforums.com - a ka24de transmission rebuilt - I haven't opened her up yet but it looks all the gears and synchros are brand new. It has a b&m shifter plate though which only fits a b&m shifter which didn't come with it so I gotta replace that. I got the whole lot shipped for like 550 I believe, trans and a slave cylinder and all the sensors still on it.
