View Full Version : Which car?

Ok, this doesn't really concern me but one of my friends is planning on getting a brand new car (Well maybe). He's interested in a 2002 Sentra SE-R Spec-V and a 2002 Dodge Stratus R/T. I told him to go with the Spec-V cuz it's a Nissan and would probably be more reliable than Dodge. Anyways, I was wondering on which one you would choose and which one performs better etc, etc. I'm pretty sure that the Spec-v would whoop the R/T's ass any day. Let me hear what you think.
Oh yeah, I didn't suggest a 240sx to him because thats what I drive. And that's not the kind of car he likes(compact sport that is). He said to another friend of mine that all he wants is to be able to beat me off the line.

Personally, I think they both suck. Tell him to save up and get a WRX. The Spec-V has disgusting drivetrain losses, and I don't like the styling of Stratuses (Stratii?). Getting new cars is dumb though...why get a spec-v when for 20k you can have a Supra, Rx-7, 300ZX, crazy souped up 240SX...and for 10G more an R32 Skyline.

word up...premier nissan junkie...someone has to do something about that spelling though...

hey, wow, it's been fixed...great...

Uhm, the Nissan. Duh. It's a Nissan. The other is a Dodge. It's really that simple.

Okay, I'm totally unfamiliar with both cars - I'll admit that. But, still. A Stratus instead of a Sentra? Look who you're asking.

On the subject, a friend of mine told me she wanted to buy a silver Accord. I was so proud. Then she went and bought a white Stratus instead. Our friendship just hasn't been the same since.

(Incidently, she's not all that thrilled with her decision either, but cares about it significantly less than I do).

For one a warrenty is very nice. All the car's you listed are high maintnence compared to a new car and parts cost more. Since his friend seems pretty much decided on these 2 cars and likes non compact cars I think he should get the dodge, it actually does'nt look that bad and relibility engine wise isn't that bad either (AL Bundy's dodge went over 1 million miles ) If he wants something sportier and cheaper get the Sentra, which is a better buy IMO.

Isnt the dodge built/powered by mitsubishi?? the new Spec-V is nice, although a bit small.

The stratus is basically an eclipse with a couple styling changes.

I'm not familiar with the stratus, but I was looking at/sitting in/stroking gently/drooling on a sentra. Its a very nice car, but still feels too much like i'm sitting in a boat. I dont like that much room. The new sportier seatsare great, but theres just too #### much headroom. (maybe i'm crazy for thinking this...but these are the reasons i love my 240)

i dont think theres a choice really...... the stratus doesnt compare to 6 speeds LSD, kick ass stereo, 17's dope ass seats, good tires excellent suspension how can u go wrong?

I said he's my friend not my enemy:)
Yeah I have to agree with just about everyone here. The Spec-V is waay better, but how does the Spec-V compare the my '97 240sx se. Who do you think would win in a drag race taking into consideration both of us are descent drivers and my s14 has CAI and soon to have headers/exhaust?

spec v would win. they have 175hp and weigh less...i think. anywho the power advantage makes up for the extra weight if there is any

spec-v's are dope.... my only gripe is they are front wheel drive.. otherwise, they are staight baddass..

though.. i've said it once before, if i had to do it all over again, and was allowed to buy a turbo car.. I'd get a 1st or 2nd gen DSM... those things are just so baddass.. (awd of course).

if he is set on those two tho, the spec-v all the way.. it's like askin if you would rather have.... uhh... well shit,, i dunno.. i'm not creative...
