i used light and checked all the injectors, on each one, both wires have voltage and lit up the test light. with the engine running the wire on the right of the injector pulses (OR FLASHES) . my second cylinder from the front, the injector is not firing . i checked it with the test light and only the wire left lights up and the other doesnt pulse. i cut the wire loom open to inspect the wiring all the way back to the ecu, and no broken wires were found. even at the ecu the test light wont show voltage for the injector wire on the right, it wont pulse. can anyone help me figure this out ?

no one knows why one injector would just stop working?

are you getting spark to that cylinder??? check for that.

maybe a bad ecu..?

spark is fine on #2, and we have tried 2 ecu's and it didnt change

maybe a ground issue? Could be worth a shot.

I'd try a different ECU..

Rent an oscilloscope ... try hole in the wall shops they may just let you use it if you have the car there. try not to put anything in parrell (test light) because the resistance levels. injectors are ground through the ecu, and the ecu is very low amperage. the addition of the test light in the circuit changes the total amperage of the circuit.

Swap injectors, might be a bad injector. Ohm test even!

good stuff

I have a similar problem.

I replaced the injector on cylinder 2 with one that functions for sure. I tested for spark and there is spark. When I pull the plug wire there is no change in RPM at idle.

Are the only two remaining possibilities the wiring to the harness of the injector and the ECU? How can I test both? The wiring harness goes through the firewall so I don't know how I can check the wires without tearing it completely apart. Can I check the ECU reliably? Maybe at Autozone?

if you're not getting a pulse from the injector wire directly out of the ecu i would logically think the ecu is bad. if you tried other ecus, try looking into the connector that plugs into the ecu maybe there is some corrosion affecting the connection.

Thanks for the tip, I'll give that a look tomorrow. Is there some way to test the outputs of the ECU for specific injectors?

Speaking from just having talked to my friend half an hour ago, check your compression.

Fortunately compression is good :). Surprisingly good, in fact, for a motor with 191000 miles on it.

In that case, go to a pick and pull, pull (5) stock injectors, send (4) away for cleaning and matching, and put (1) in the hole that isn't firing.
