View Full Version : Leaks around hatch seal s13

I already replaced the weather stripping, but i'm still getting considerable amount of leakage in some spots coming out of the rear pillars.

Is there some sort of rubberish compound I can spread between where the weather stripping is and the border of the side rear windows, if that makes any sense. This would be a temp fix during the rainy season. it just started raining here and i dont want water getting in!!

lol i hate you. what i meant by temp is this would be for this season and i can weld patch some of the bad metal causing the leaks next summer.

i know this worked on my coupe... i removed the catch on the car side & elongated the holes down further with a drill maybe a 1/4" then adjusted. now it closes tighter & hits the seal better(i did replace the seal 1st) & r u sure it's coming down the side rails?? it could be the dumdum tape shit around ut taillights not sealin....

i know for a fact its coming down the side rails near the very top because i took off the pillars and thats where the drops manifest from. i was thinking that perhaps the seals around those wires that go to the hatch might be out of place or gone. either that, or its leaking through the metal perhaps through some tiny holes. its happening on both sides in similar locations though so my guess is those stupid seals.

im having the same issue as you; cant figure it out either. havent had a chance to tackle this and it sucks cause its been raining in socal this week.

found out it was those rubber seal/gaskets that run the wires from cabin to the hatch. they were bad, put some liquid gasket sealant on them. hasnt fully dried yet. ill chime in with results.

I have the same problem. So is it leaking from underneath the lights? or above them?

check the seals around your sunroof, as well as there you will be able to tell if they are worn really badly. on all 4 corners of the sunroof you will be able to see tubes. spray water down these to see if there is easy flow (do this on a dry day) when your done with this test check your rear sprayer nozzle. this routes straight into your car, if its loose you will get water in your trunk.

I basically started from ripping out the headliner and moving my way around till i found the culprate. nothing leaks now, and hasnt for 5 years. A quick fix for your sunroof is Petrolim jelly. AKA Vasoline. This will help seal dryed and worn seals alot better.
This is from personal experience. Also works around doors hoods etc whatever its lube and stays lubed because it doenst evaporate..
