I actually watch the BBC Top Gear and like it. They shouldn't make an American version of it. It's like the European Office and then America took it and made it The Office. I do believe that this show won't even be near as good as the BBC one.

I have seen it before. But yeah, this show would fail due to American TV producers not knowing anything... at all

PS, tanner froust is a good driver, but horrible TV host

won't be as good as the bbc version. the hosts gave it certain soul to it IMO...the cars the bbc version hasda way better variety of cars because alot of what they drove wasn't even seen here in the u.s. (civic type R came to my head for a reason). and no stig!? c'mon. it looks like one of those "powerblock" morning car shows.

and ryan dunn(jackass) who's actually a very good driver too

An American Top Gear will not make it. The witty one liners, and quick wit of the UK Top Gear is what makes the show. You can't write some of the stuff those guys do and say when they are improving, it's just that good.

Tanner might be a great driver, but he just doesn't have the humor that this show requires. He's too serious and can't really drop a punch line. Maybe "dry" would be the better description.

EDIT: This just popped into mind after posting, WTF is TOP GEAR doing on The History Channel of all things??? Really?! Am I the only one that finds this severely out of place? Well, I guess I shouldn't bitch too much, it's not like the Speed Channel has anything on air other than Nascar, Wind Tunnel, Car Crazy, and whatever other BS they cook up to fill the gaps between Nascar. The stuff worth watching is so few and far between that the channel is a waste of time.

It could be successful if they did the same type of humour.

example; '...I wasn't impressed with the new JAG because it was made by englishmen. fuck american top gear, British top gear is the orignial and its done properly, Jeremy Clarkson, James May, and Richard Hammond are the perfect group of guys to do the show theres no need for a copy cat american version they're gonna ruin it

I'm assuming by your comments none of you know anything about the show.

First off the writers, producers are the same ppl from the brittish version so the humor willl b the same.


Of course there will be a stig.

Tanner being a bad host is debateable.

The cars will be all the same.

The test track is better on el toro

And if I'm not mistaken the show will not be played on NBC last I heard it was airing on the history channel

yeah we're so damn politically correct here in the stats there's no way in hell nbc would let the hosts get away with that kind of humor. we can't even say the world trade center was attacked by muslims because we're afraid of offending ppl.

i went to the live screening for the fun of it (and to be on TV haha)

of course it would still not be as good as the original, but its pretty decent over all. the only downfall I see on the american top gear is TANNER FOUST , hes very boring and robotic, everything he says sounds super scripted. camera work could improve as well.

i think the magic number for top gear to improve on is the 3rd season, because for those that actually have watched all top gear seasons, we all know the first 3 seasons (without james may) was really bad. hell even australia top gear picked up on its third season (even though there's only been one episode so far)

I am not really sure which episode I saw but it was with the Lambos and I must say... I hate that show. I love the cars that they are testing but the Hosts, Tanner, that fat guy with a beard that cannot drive and the other guy was very annoying. Even the Cinematography is like a homevideo compared to BBC's Top Gear.
They are better off if they just put on a 1 hour show with James Earl Jones as voice over while hot girls in Bikini drive and show off the cars.

BBC should never do Top Gear America. Jeremy, Richard and James are the only ones that can make that show work. In the end Ameican Top Gear will just be eaten up by the corporate sponsors and will turn into Motor Trend.

This show is useless!
