View Full Version : Turbo kit/ options for the KA24E

now I am well aware of the fact that there are a few complete turbo kits specifically for the ka24e sohc motor. The question I have is are the dohc turbo kits interchangeable with the sohc ones, as many postings on ebay list fitment for both. I always thought the exhaust ports on the heads were a different config from sohc to dohc, can anyone confirm??

also how is the quality of the CX Racing kit out there? it looks decent, but I have heard some ppl say it is awesome and others swear it is shaite, so any opinions on that are welcome! it seems like if I just got a turbo manifold it would be pretty easy to just make my own kit from scratch, I'd much rather do that if the complete kits are indeed crappy.

if you have a custom homebrew kit that you made I would like to see it, although I imagine the layout on the s13 chassis is pretty straightfoward.

You get what you pay for if i were you i would just piece a kit together cause i pretty sure those CX Racing kits are garbage.

de and e exhaust ports are different. And anything from ebay is going to be garbage. Your manifolds will crack turbo will come with shaft play etc. etc. If your looking to boost it save the money and go with an sr or rb. Or even invest in a dohc to make your ka-t. Single over head cams are junk

thanks for the info guys, I figured the ebays ones would be garbage. I have since found a place to get a quality trubo manifold for the single cam, and let me tell you single cams are not junk, for about 1/4 the price of a swap I can have more starting HP and torque than an SR....the dual cam turbo build don't net much more HP than their sohc counterparts, there are just more options for turbo cams.

all I really need is a nice thick turbo mani with good welds and doesn't glow like a fucking lightbulb once the turbo spools up. SO....I get a good turbo mani for a few hundred bucks, a T3/T4 from somewhere reputable and piece together my own intercooler and see what kinda #s I get. Then once I get bored with that I can get bigger injectors and a better fuel pump and blow my fuckikng motor up...you know ....that ol chesnut
