I'm referring to this Circuit Sports CS-ORL-0001-GD Oil Filter Relocation Kit RWD SR20DET (http://www.frsport.com/index.php?target=products&mode=details&product_id=16591)
I have heard nothing but positive reviews, however I am wondering if this 'sandwich/screw on' block adapter is safe or not.
I don't track my car, it's just my daily sr, and I do a lot of driving, so I change the oil once every month or so, and I'm looking for a good way to put on an oil pressure gauge.
My question is, has anybody had good/bad experiences with this kit? What's your overall take on this screw on relocation kit.
I know everyone rants and raves about the tomei oil block, but I'm not looking forward to having to spend 300+ dollars to have easier access to the filter.
TLDR version:
I want to put a pressure gauge on, and I want to have easier access to the filter. Will this do the trick reliably?

give it a try, the gauge will tell you if anything goes wrong.
you shouldn't have any problems at all considering your oil pump is in good health and you have good oil flow and keep up with oil changes.

If you like the idea of the block adaptor Stance as well as Circuit Sports make those too. I've got the Stance one and it does the job perfectly. Both of those options are cheaper than the Tomei unit.

Looks just like the rest of the oil relocation kits, just with a different name. I have a relocation kit on my car, and the sandwhich plate is just fine, no leaks, no nothin.

It looks a hell of a lot nicer/cheaper than the Greddy unit too. i used the Greddy one, which is the same style, for a few years and had zero problems with it at all. im sure you will be fine.

This is the one i have on order now. I like it because you have a little more line to play with. Plus i have put this on another sr and it worked out good. Been on there for over 6 months with no issue ..

Thanks for all the replies guys!
I also think it looks better built than the greddy, and if the greddy worked, this should too.
I just remember seeing people saying 'Oh, they leak(not referring to the Circuit sports, but sandwich plates in general)!' 'Oh they suck!' etc.
However I think that might just be the elitist talk of Zilvia.
Thank you all for chiming in on your experiences. I will definitely be ordering this kit!

I have a greddy/grex relocation kit... and i would much rather have this one. The greddy ones use hoseclamps to attach the lines and i always have little drips coming from the ends. Even after i got better hose clamps, the earl's fittings did nothing.
This(or any similar kit posted) uses AN fitting which seem less likey to leak, although ive never personally used them

I dont think it was anything elitist. They were probably just too fucking retarded to install said plates correctly, therefore, instead of manning up to it they just decided to bash the product. I have used/installed several different types of sandwich plates on my cars and my friends' cars, and the results are always equally desirable. i have yet to see one leak that was properly installed.

Do you guys have any install tips for the oil block qadapter? Any special method/precaution? Should I put some oil on the adapter o ring?
Teflon? Any tips or tricks?

dont use teflon, the last thing you ever need is some of that breaking off and getting into the oil system. definitely put oil on the o-ring and make sure you tighten things down properly and by all means DO NOT cross-thread anything. Other than that it's pretty much self explanatory.

Use teflon paste.

Do not use teflon tape, paste or any other variant of teflon. This stuff breaks up all the time and gets fed to your turbo.

there is no need for any type of sealant...teflon...rtv etc...its like like putting an oil filter on the motor.....a lil oil on the o-ring and tighten it down...

Yeah, if you do everything correctly, sealant is not required.

Yeah, I figured that it should be no different from putting an oil filter on, so I kept thinking to myself...
"If an oil filter doesn't leak on there, why would the sandwich plate leak?"
So, I'm going to go at it the same way as I would an oil change, and I'll be sure to put a dab of oil on the seal, and to prime the pump without any spark etc.
I'm going to assume this will increase my oil capacity to about 4, maybe a little more than 4 quarts?
Thanks for all the insight gentlemen!

another thing to note....check it periodically, as vibration may casue it to come loose...so check it when u change oil...n snug it down if need be...

I have a question i am also thinking about getting this relocation kit but i want to install a oil pressure gague would it be easier with this set up and why?

you dont really need an oil relocation filter for easier access. i used the k&n oil gold filter with wrench top. you can use a socket to tighten and loosen it with 1 1/2 socket.
as far as putting an oil pressure gauge. i did use a steel t fitting that installs between the oem oil pressure switch. i used rtv outside to seal it not by the thread.

very cheap and reliable set up for me. never spent over $50 to just for convenience
i still have some spare steel fittings that are industrial rate that uses for big machineries. i can sell it to you for $25 shipped

I dont like how the OEM location showers the motor mount with oil. What are they thinking? How come chevy has a nicely placed filter, and we get a bath?

you think chevy is nice, you should see the stock oil filter location of the FRS.
SO convenient .

Shit, I'd take nissan's placement of their filter over anything Mitsubishi!!! Mitsu likes to stick their filters upside down under the engine bay so you'd have to crawl under the car, unscrew the filter and shower in oil.
