I had turned my 2 step from 4800 to 5200. For the first time ever my car now has a miss. But only under boost. Plug number four is fouled but the others look good. A dsm builder told me to try out some ngk bk8 instead of the 7's and to gap at .024. Anyone have any input?

The car is sr23, fully built head, 2876r on 18 pounds making 380 on a mustang dyno.

you probable don't know what a 2 step or anti lag is anyway cause you would rather drift with a all motor car.

Dude, change the plug, see if it goes away or replicated. 7 heat range is fine, the gap should be in the .022/.024 range so you're good there as it is.

Copper plugs go bad/foul out/fail...that's why they are 2 dollars a plug and easy to replace.

PS (and maybe offtopic) but a 2.3 SR at 18 lbs with a 2876 should be making much more power than that....sure it's not a tune issue?

I'm on my phone right now but I can later when I get home.

The car would put down 430 on a dyno jet. Car goes 11.00 as it sits. Also is internally gated. I am piecing together my 366 set up now.

Unsure who you are trying to lie too, but it certainly won't be me.

Considering I work with both dynos, I will be the first to tell you that it won't get 50 whp between the two...trust me when I say, I've done the back to back tests. Hoping to do the same car with a dynapack here in the next month for fun to see how they all work out.

What's your 60 ft time on the current setup. Curious. 11.0 at 380 needs a perfect setup, and automatic like shifting ability...both of which are about impossible in the 240 platform.

But if you really did, then I'll eat my words and look a fool...but I doubt.

Here is the set up. Sr20, 2.35 stroker, built head, ported, 280 cams, 2876r at 18 pounds interanlly gated, open down pipe, 300zx trans, 1.5 way diff, car weighs 2550 with me in it, 275/15/60r mickey thompssons. I went 11.02 at 122 with a 1.52 60'. Car is a stick car. I'm not looking to make people dumb, just some plug advice. Call m-a it made 380 on their dyno tuned by ray. Sorry if people you have watched can't drive. Its what I do.

You do realize the 60' and trap don' match up well with the quarter, a 1.5 cut and a 120+ trap is a 10.7/10.8 car at your weight. Unless your car defies physics.....

But a 1.5 rip is decent on a stock setup...as I said, I'll eat my words. No need to get cocky at driving ability I'm not far off your time with a road race car...as are countless others.

PS: Still dn't get how a 2.3, at 18 psi with a 280* cams, and a 2876 is only making the power you have....that should be an easy 410/420 hp car with that crazyness.

Like I said, I just want some plug advice. That's All. Not a pissing contest.

Try iridiums, 7 heat range. 0.028" gap should be fine at your boost, but you can always bump them down a hair to about 0.025" if you're not an idiot with them(plug tip is fragile, just don't beat on the tip).

ok ill try them out and report back next weekend.

Yea, I had problems with a misfire after a couple of hundred miles on copper plugs. Went to iridiums and never had an issue after that.

You're absolutely right, I have no idea what anti-lag is...and as a matter of fact not only do I like to drift with an all-motor car, I like to do it in a FWD one as well. :ddog:

i put the new plugs in gapped at .025. it didnt make a differance. car drives and idles fine. only under boost is when it breaks up. did a compresson test and 150 across the board. no boost leaks. dont know what it is. any ideas?

switch the coils around between 2 of the cyls... if the fouling moves with the coil, its the coil.

Smells like a coilpack not working as it should. I had troubles around 4000-5000 rpm with a bad coilpack.

i am going to swap out coils tonight with a friend of mine. see if that fixes the issue. 20k+ into the car and no a/f gauge=fail
