Hey guys, purchased a pioneer 4200ub with plans on redoing my entire car audio system. I wired all the rca cables and power cables for my speakers; I only installed the front speakers though and hooked them up. I have my amp connected to the power cable and it's grounded as well. I have the front rca cables hooked up to the head unit. To sum it up, I have the front speakers hooked up only to my 4 channel amp and I decided to try and see if everything works so I hooked up my head unit. However, it does not start up. Nothing starts actually. The amp doesn't even show it is powered on (the LED light is not on). I'm not sure what's going on. Will the amp not turn on if the head unit is not on (thus not sending current through the remote signal wire)?

I don't know why the hell my head unit won't turn on at all though. yellow > yellow. black is grounded. red > ignition. orange > lighting. This is really fustrating. I was planning on having it done today...

I forgot to mention, my wiring harness didn't even fit so I had to cut it up a little and it still doesn't fit. Even if the pins weren't connecting correctly, wouldn't the amp power on LED still light up?

the amp needs a signal on the remote turn on wire to power up. Check your fuses and make sure you didn't blow one.

right, I have the signal wire hooked up. My fuses are all fine too. I'm not sure what's going on with this thing. I have the remote signal wire hooked up to the blue/white wire on my headunit. It's not turning on. :(

So I got my head unit to work finally. Following the suggestions on a local board, I connected the remote signal wire to the 12v wire to see if the amp would power up and it does! I get music playing as well (only through my front speakers since that's all I had hooked up). I think the issue is that since I received the wrong harness, even with modification to it, the pins aren't connecting (or at least just the remote wire pin). So, what are some alternatives to placing this remote wire so that it still functions but doesn't drain my battery when the car is off?

Splice your amp remote signal wire to the red (ignition) wire with the head unit.
