I'm interested in trading my clean title bmw 540i automatic e39 body (97-03 style), this was our family car but the wife is now driving the kids in a 07' e60 530xi wagon and i'm looking for something different. make no mistake, there is nothing wrong with this car. it has the "aubergine" burgandy interior (extremely rare on the e39), aspen silver exterior. 134k highway miles (i don't drive to work, besides its nothing for a bmw), the 4.4L v8 pulls like a beast and is butter smooth at idle. this car has every available option. the 4.4 v8 (m62) is very healthy with a strong punch once you step on it. no leaks, odors, noise, rattles or imperfections.
options include:
-built in phone
-rear window and side automatic shade curtain
-heated seats
-heated steering wheel
-navi (navigation blew but has aftermarket radio)
-m5 wheels
-hella projector halo headlights with weisslitch led angel eye bulb (much more brighter than stock)
-ccfl oem rear tail lights & clear side markers
-koni adjustable shocks with h&r springs (car is lowered 1.75" in front and 1.5" in rear).
-power everything
-1 touch sunroof/moonroof
-1 touch up/down windows
-full power seats with power headrest
-ski pass option
-dual rear folding seats
reccent maintanace done includes: I HAVE RECEIPTS FOR EVERYTHING !
-replaced all 8 coilpacks and spark plugs (parts and labor $970)
-rebuilt tranny with warranty
-2 brand new yokohama advan s.4 tires (about 20 miles - google these tires, awesome summer tires, great reviews at tire rack)
-brand new coolant with lifetime evans npg colorless coolant (3 gallons at $35 p/ gallon Google it, boiling point is 450. best coolant on market)
-brand new front cup holders
-brand new k&n panel filter
-replaced valley pan gasket, intake manifold gasket and coolant bypass valve ($1,380 in parts and labor work)
-new control arm bushings in front and integral links about 5000k miles ago.
-2 brand new carbonated cabin filters
-2 oem rear hub bearings put on 3 weeks ago
not installed: brand new oem center link with steering idler arm (bushing included), brand new oem front and rear end links, new oem spring pads, new continental w-pump belt, new oem seat cover tray (both front seats), new oem belt tensioners (3) new oem auxililary fan with resistor pack) thats more than $800 in free parts.
the good:
i am a maintanance freak, always very cautious to research and diagnose problem areas before they rise...i have close to $4.5k in maintance in the last 4 months.
-e39 bmw have a weak cooling system, the radiator, fan clutch and belts have been replaced by previous owner (my dad) all last year.
-no need for any major maintance work for a very long time, runs/drives very smooth
-body in fair shape, no rust, or prior body work
-all electricals work
- ac is ice cold, no over heating issues. sat for 1 hour in gridlock nyc traffic with ac on and always stood in the middle mark.
the bad:
-the koni/h&r suspension somehow triggered the abs system, the light is now displayed on dash cluster.
-scuff marks on f&r bumpers from city parking, had m5 bumper but ripped 2 slots out and pass fog housing, so i put the stock one back on
-some low life stole my cf grills one morning, looking for a replacement
the 2 last pics are not my car but shows the vorsteiner double sided cf hood (pending sale) and the rear diffuser is up for sale. very expensive and will not go with the trade, if interested, we could work something out.
