The S14 Antenna...

Yeah, whats the deal with the tall ass antenna. Its not that bad, just seems to #### tall. Did the SE come with a rectactible one? Does anybody have an aftermarket antenna that looks stock, just shorter. I dont want some lame ass antenna, just one that looks cleaner.

go on ebay and bid for the billet antenna's or get a rubber antenna from your local parts store. My billet antenna is only 12" long made of solid aluminum. pretty nice

I never understood why the s13 got a retractable antenna. S14 SE's didnt even get the nice antennas. Go figure. Ebay one suck IMHO, they look worse, try mating a s13 retractable onto a s14.

shut up mark, I just got one, lol... It looks way better than the stock one at least, and the 1995 s14's had retractable antennas. so if anyone really wants a retractable one, get it out of a 1995 s14, but i've had enough bad experiences with retractable power antennas, so I'll pass on that, what i really like is the window antennas they used in the recent preludes and accords.

the 95 SE's and the 95 bases with the CD player option (premium sound) did have the power antenna. After 96 all antennas became the long fixed kind.

not true Grant. I have a 95 base with a CD and its not a retractable.

Not everything after '96 got stuck with the whip antennas.  Rob's '97 LE has a power retractable.  I think I'm gonna gank his...just don't tell him. :biggrin:

Thank god my 95 se came with a retractable one. &nbsp;they sell the nissan retractable kit on ebay!

Wow - I was actually bitching b/c when I had my new stereo installed, the antena lowers when I turn off the key and then raises and relowers when I remove the face. &nbsp;(only does it once if I take off the face b/f I turn off the key). &nbsp;Guess some of you wouldn't mind that at all :biggrin:?

According to all accounts (on the model of my car) I have a premium sound package in a 97 and it &nbsp;has a retractable antena too.

yeah - goes down only if I remove face or turn off car, but down up down if I turn off car then remove face. &nbsp;

Im thinking of just taking it off but cant decide what to put in its place, screw the radio I listen to CD's mostly anyway. But what would I fill the hole with?

a good aftermarket one is called a fubu (sp?) it's usually black and about 6in long...it was popular awhile back...mostly to the riceboys...but in my opinion it looks pretty nice...i don't know where you can get it...but if you are in the cali area...it shouldn't be too hard to find...

I just took the antenna off my 93 coupe (power, but broken, snapped in half), oh my GOD what a pain in the ASS that was, the motor would NOT fit through the opening, so i had to bend the metal plate that was on it, i dont even know why it was there...but now ive got this duct-taped hole there...need to find a replacement ASAP!!!!

i have an s13 with the auto antena and everytime i use my cd player i gose upand yes its big and looks like ass. so heres what i did is kind of getto but what ever. i just crazy guled that son of a bitch down it dontcome up no more ahaha. looks nice and sleek with it down all the time.

I'm with Craigs13.......it'll look better with it down. When I bought my 240, it was already broken off. They still get really good reception. But I don't really listen to the radio because it sucks. (But that's another story) I listen to my cd's. My friends have some really nice looking import cars and, in my opinion, that attennna really kills the looks. It's like the car looks so sleek until that #### antenna comes up. Reminds me of a huge remote control car.....hahahaha
