I have seen this been thrown around alot lately and i want to know if there is a right or wrong answer. People who swap sr's in 240's refer their cars alot of the time as silvia's. Now inpart I would have to agree with them because austensivly that is engine's and drive side are the only difference between the two. And people always reply "you still only have a 240 dick". but... wouldn't the sr swap deam it a silvia for the simple fact that a 240sx is called that because its dam engine displacement. anywho i think 240sx is a gay name anyway, a silvia sounds so much more refined.

I would appericate any feed back on this,

Well i think your car is still a 240sx no matter what. just look @ your registration and how you got the car, it's still a 240sx.just like a integra LS, you throw a type R engine in it it still doesn't make it a type R it is still a LS

Well the thing is its not like the Silvia is neccessarily an upgrade to the the 240sx.

There were S13 Silvias with 125hp. So upgrading the engine and the name dont really seem to go together. Doing a front end conversion and calling it a Silvia makes a little more sense because it now looks like a Silvia.

Legal in the registration aspect true, you can't change that. But what about all the heads with 240 who get silvia badges and the whole 9 yards... does that make them giant a$$e$. that like throwin f***in viper emebles on my car.

JDM 180sx's had SR20DET's in them
USDM s12 200sx's had CA18ET's and VG30E's
USDM B13 200sx's had GA16DE's

ok i understand i hate when ppl call there car silvias, but while u guys are thinking of it for my liscense plate i was either going to get 200sx, because 2.4l=240sx and 2.0l=200sx i wasnt gonna put badges or refer to my car as one, just kinda somethin taht would attract attention of ppl who know about the car, or im gonna get 240sx so taht dmbasses arent like nice silvia ill be like read the plate bitch! haha either way im sure both plates are takin but can i just get some of your opinions, because 240sx lovers are the ppl whos opinions matter most

All I gotta say is:

Silvia is a ****in car name not a Trim like Type R

Think about it. I have nothing else to say.

Exactly. If anything an engine swap and front end swap make it an s14 K's, not a silvia.

I guess those guys who swapped in RB's have a Skyline now...

Its a 240sx no matter what you do, and the engine and drive side is about 40% of whats different from a 240sx vs Silvia.

People who call their cars silvia gives everyone a bad headache when idiots come up and say "Hey nice silvia". Even though you have a KA-T or even a stock 240. It makes me sick.

If it was purchased and brought over as a silvia, skyline, 180sx, then that is what is is. If you bought a 240sx, regardless of the engine inside, its still a 240sx. American chassis and parts.

If you get an organ transplant from someone, does that mean you are that person? If you transfer a V8 into a honda accord, is it not still an accord?

If I placed a KA into an R32 (DON'T ASK), is it stil an R32?
Get the point, conversion, immersion, diversion, its still what it came out of the factory as. Kid Zelda said exactly what I felt, Kouki, zenki, ranma, evangelion, its still a 240. Makes me tink of Michael Jackson, tried to be something he was not by upgrading parts.
