Hi, I searched about this and found a thread from a couple of months back that did not explain very much. I am using stock rods and cp pistons in my s13 sr20det. Looking to make 400whp with a 3076r and it will see occasional high boost (25psi).

First of all, Can I reuse the stock rod bolts and main bolts. I have read mixed things about this and want to know from people that have first hand experience.

More than likely, I will purchase new rod bolts seeing as the don't cost very much and it's definitely worth the peace of mind. Should I go with OEM bolts? Where would I get them? I have found 2 different part # that say they are for OEM connection rod bolts. Has anyone ordered any before and what pn did you use?

Or should I go with ARP. I have read that these can cause the rod to get out of round. Is there any truth to this?

I am kind of clueless when it comes to mains. I have read that the arp can distort the block and that I should possibly use GTIR mains. If I could get away with reusing the stock ones, I'd like to.

This is my first build and I've been trying to research as much as I can. I just want some clearification from more experienced people.

Thanks in advance.

I will say this...Buy new rod bolts for sure. Real bad things happen when a rod bolts break. Your newly built motor becomes your new boat anchor.

Thanks for the response. I pretty much figured id be buying new rod bolts. Would you recommend OEM bolts over ARP?

What about the main bolts?

thanks

I'm just going to buy all new hardware.

Can anyone verify that RNN14 GTI-R maincap bolts are interchangeable with S13 Sr20det maincap bolts.

I thought that I read some where that they were and that they were stronger than the stock hardware.

Thanks
