Turbo questions

im new here and looking to buy a 98 240 auto...im interested in boosting it in the future...but how strong is the factory auto....and what is the best turbo kit out there?...i want to keep the KA motor....mabye buy a junk motor to rebuild it to handle more boost....also how much boost can the stock motor handle?...is there a thicker headgasket you can install?....any info is appreciated...Jeff

I asked Don Nimi at PDM racing awhile back about the strength of the tranny, pistons, and crankshaft.
The auto tranny he said should be good up to about 350hp.  That is also where the pistons will go bad.
Then he said the rods and crankshaft were extremely overbuilt and he know of people goin to 450hp on stock rods and crank.  He doesn't know the exact specs for the rods, but is sure the crank is good to 450hp.

Hey you have a Supra Turbo in your Black SC300 right? &nbsp;I think I have seen around on some other boards I have been to. &nbsp;Well Hey I can't really help you out on your question BUT I have a SR motor coming in and if you want a Stock KA motor I have one. for you.

Nice ride boosteds14. Where did you get that carbon fiber hood and did it not come with a latch? How did it fit??

that 13.3 all motor civic is impressive.

YA I got the carbon fiber hood from carbonfiberhoods.com and it did come with a latch but it is too weak it break the first time i closed the hood.
as for the that 13.3 all motor civic, he plans to hit mid 12's after he gets the tube chassis. and weight reduction done by Moroso. and that motor is a pure JUN motor, compression 14:1

when you guys are talking about hp are you refering to crank or rewp..cause if the stock KA motor and tranny will hold 350rwhp ill be a very happy camper...no need for lowering compression?......shiftkit in the tranny?....

as for my car currently i have a 95 lexus sc300 thats silver...i have a 6spd tranny...limited slip rear...last dyno was 537 rwhp and 524 tq.....i love rear drive and live the look of the 97-98 240...so id like to buy one and keep the lexus in the garage more...Jeff
