So I was riding around in my 240sx leaving school the AC fan most of came unbolted or and broke the shroud knocking off the mechanical fan off and pulling off the alternator belt and unplugging the distributor and cracking the plastic on the connector. Well this is more or less a question on Electric Fan or Mechanical Fan? Please reference a good thread on Electric fans so i know what a good deal of what i am getting my self into.

Just stick w/ the clutch fan unless you absolutely need to switch to electric for some reason...flex a lite makes a fan kit w/ shroud and thermostatic controller for just north of 300 bucks..I have it installed on my s13 and haven't had a problem for the past 2 years.

Stick with the mechanical fan, it cools better.. electric fans are ok too but the only advantage you get is space and thats no biggie unless your under your hood every week. And im talking from experience, the clutch fan cools better, with the shroud of course.

Agreed, but don't let the cost of an electric fan scare you, you can find electric fans from a ford taurus and those will set you back less than $20 and still cool pretty well.

I run 2 12in flex-a-lite fans with Dif pwm fan controller. and i absolutely love my setup it runs flawlesly. It didnt take much to put in. I have been running this setup for a couple years now.
