Okay, i was trying to search this and not everybody runs the same set up, and i didnt really get to much feedback with the search function, so hopefully you guys could help please.

I wanna get my car tuned and have a Power FC, with that said, i may not be able to get to a dyno so i was leaning towards the Tuned ECU with Enthapy.

With that said; i run Tomei Pro Cams 260/260 w/ Adjustable cam gears. Now will i lose power getting a tuned ecu versus my power fc getting it tuned on the dyno while being able to adjust the cam gears?

Or does someone have a similar set up via cam gear preset notches that i could use their setup achieving the most power out of this set up.

Also my set up is:

260/260
GT3076r .82

Thanks Zilvians.

You will always get more power tuning on a dyno vs. buying a tuned ecu. I also wouldnt use the notches on someone elses set up. If you want to safely tune your engine and cams you are going to have to go dyno tune it.

I'm not 100% sure but I believe 260 poncams don't need a cam gear, I know Stage 1 cams don't, I believe duration on Stage 1 cams is 256, so I think 260 should do fine without a cam gear. Don't take my word on that, but may be something to think about.

Well thats what i was thinkin as well. But the only reason why i asked about using someone else notches is to see if they're set up is the same, that wouldnt hurt would it. Same set up?

The cam gear came with the setup i was looking at as i could adjust how much more air i wanted to come on intake or exhaust side, which is why i got them.

Truthfully, I'd sell the cam gears and just put stock ones on. Tomei 260's always make best power installed as stock.

Yea i was thinkin the same thing too...you have any proof to suffice your theory (no sarcasm intended.)

OEM cam gears are the way to go.

In my case, when my VCT went bad and was being deleted, $40 HKS Cam gears isn't a bad idea. But stay OEM if you can.

Every engine will make power differently. No 2 engines with the same setup will be the same. To fully maximize power out of cams, you'd have to have it tuned on a dyno.

True, but the differences are so small realistically, that you can generally say that installed straight as OEM is the best way. Could you move a 5hp difference? Maybe...I write that off as Dyno difference

I personally don't from my car, as the computer shit that had the run files shortly after mine. It shifted the powerband around, and really effected torque, but in the end 'as oem' is perfect. To me cam gears could be better suited to larger cams with a bigger spread and big turbo, but for most t2 based setups, installing them as OE is best.

Even with the Honda guys, you can see that at one point cam gears were the rage...and now most realize that decent tuning does a better job.
