I've had this car for a while now, it's been making slow, slooowww progress. But it's getting there. I'm 19, and in college, so money is tight. But this is the progress I've made so far!
I paid 1000 dollars originally for the car. This is the day I got it.

So my step-dad and I started to fix the damage.
Picked this up from a junkyard for 350 dollars.

After that I picked up a KA project motor, so I could begin a KA-T build.
NEVER put a KA in the back of an S13 hatch...
http://i31.tinypic.com/2vvwfth.jpg
When we finally got it out of the hatch I took it apart. The crank was bad, and everything else in the rotating assembly, so I just replaced it all.

Got the motor in the car, and my timing was way off. So I had to fix the chains, to get it to time right. Then my oil sending unit went out so I replaced it. Still has small leak from front timing cover. I'll fix that later.
Then I got a 14" E-Fan, and changed my coolant out. Also got 1/4" spacers, cause my wheels were rubbing.

I was using a shitty XTD clutch and it broke like immediately. So I replaced it with an Exedy.

looks good man. what're your plans for the ka-t? I just wanted to run a T25 set up for the time being, since I'm on a budget. But after that I'd like to upgrade to something...big.
Looks good. Is it a DD and weekend warrior or are you just going for a fun DD? It's just a DD right now, but when I'm finished I still plan on it being a DD, just a fast one..
what paint are you using .. for that tranny and is it high temp?
Duplicolor engine enamel, engine paint, high heat

Thanks!
There is absolutely nothing worse than trying to put the tranny back in when the motor is in the car. It took almost 2 hours and 4 people just to get that bitch back in. I just left the car sitting overnight...I'll bolt it up tomorrow and get everything else on. So frustrating lol.
(That's not wheel gap..it's on jackstands..lol)

Today I traded my old xtd 6 puck for an exhaust. It's just stock diameter with a magnaflow tip. No resonators or anything. My friend helped my weld it up (onevia_drift) and we also welded my radiator support back to my frame..it broke off in a few places cause it rusted.
All problems fixed that existed before, but now has more problems. Slight exhaust leak cause we broke one of the three bolts that holds the manifold to the exhaust down pipe thing, and has a slight p/s leak.

Reminds me of all the bad luck and first doing I had gone through with my first 240.
After 3 KA's, one of which was boosted, I ended up with an RB20 which I then sold the whole car a year later.
Looks to be good progress man!

Lack of update because I had to get insurance, which was expensive as hell. 220 dollar down payment kind of set me back. But I guess it's worth it since it's only 53 a month. Also I owed the DMV 65 dollars and that set me back as well.
and THIS set me back as well!!

I'm honestly thinking about just keeping the damn stock SE rim in it's place and finishing other shit first. Those tires are expensive.

Well since I have no money, and an urge to work on my car, I just decided to do some body work. I want to paint it, so I might as well prepare it. Yes I purposely chose the most obnoxious primer available.
Sanding down
http://i51.tinypic.com/ap8tpv.jpg
After 80 grit, 120 grit, 210 grit, 230 wet sand

Well now that I'm un-pinked, I guess I can throw in an update.
Not much has been done to the car, I got my hours cut and I'm not making much.
My clutch master cylinder went out, so I have to replace that. I also found out that what I thought to be an oil leak is a just a power steering leak. :)
To do list:
- I really need coilovers, but I'd rather get go-fast parts first...
First things first, get the engine running perfectly..need a new knock sensor, water pump, and a clutch master cylinder.
And then:
- Some T28
- 550CC Injectors
- Walbro 255
- Z32 Maf or whatever
- Manifold
- Piping/BOV
- Tune
ETC. Updates will be whenever I have cash.

Fixed the clutch master cylinder..no more annoying pressure loss.
Got a new water pump to replace my old rusted out one. I'll post pics later.

i cant believe you used 80 grit on a body pannel.

I didn't really know what I was doing in regards to bodywork when I did that.
I had my dad help me out after that, to teach me.
Everyone's gotta learn, I guess.

Who knows? If it goes out, I'll change it. I don't mind fixing shit.

i think he sanded it down with 80 grit with some of the paint still on it and went finer grit.
1000 for that car when you bought it? i think thats a lil too much, since its got rust and core support isnt in shape. maybe 600-700
350 for the core support and half of the wheel wells at the junkyard and you didnt even use the half of the wheel wells? if you just got the core support, you could have probably brought the price down a lil but that is still a lot i think unless you had them cut it out for you.

Where does the car have rust..? The only rust spot I have found on that whole car is on my brake booster, and my water pump was rusted out (which I changed today)
But I do agree that it was too much when I initially bought it. I wasnt quite familiar with cars back then, but that's changed, and this is now. So I'm over that.

Hey man I did the same thing with my car.. But somebody did me the honors of painting it atleast 3 times with a spray can so it was thick as hell and when you use real paint the reducer melts the hold to get it to bond well thats when it wrinkles up so i had to take it all the way down... also put went threw gallon and a half of primer tons of blocking with 220 then 320 and wet sanded the whole car with 400. gonna paint then wet sand again with 1500 and buff out to what i hope will be a brilliant finish :yum:
