Hey just wanted to let you guys know i picked up my s13 its in ok shape the interior is fugly painted white and blue and it has one red seat, i really like the red seat i think it is a race seat does anyone know what brand seat came red that had two little up and down things on the left side to lower and rase the rear and front of the seat, it also has 2 things on the back that make the seat go forward for rear pasengers and the thing to adjust the back is up front along with the thing that moves the seat up. sorry that is as detailed as i can desribe but anyway i am in pretty deep the guy filled the whole car almost with that liquid foam and this sound dampening stuff it sucks but there is some rust in where the spare was and rust on the gas tamk and some dings but other than that im ready for a project, also if anyone wants the sohc engine with 130000 on it its yours if u want to come get it.

Good stuff, thats pretty cheap, $100....I can't find one for less that $1,000 here in Cali.

The seat sounds like a bucket style sport seat. Usually the name brand is on the seat. Other than that, if you really want to know, take some pics and post 'em.

Good luck with your project.

it seems like your project is coming along and alot of fun. Hope everything goes well. I know that it looks that you have planned for the worst, but if something happens with your project it seems that you have the funds to back it up.

WTF is that foam crap for?

Good luck with your project. I say rip all the interior out and leave it spartan. Which reminds me, I'm supposed to be pulling my interior to have the whole car painted, but I've been procrastinating here on zilvia.

Good buy for $100.

I didn't know that S13's had speakers in that location  I thought it was just the tiny 6x3's or whatever size those speakers were in the back. Anyway, time to break out the paint and fix that interior's color scheme. Good luck.

S13s never had speakers in that location stock. that's homegrown shiz right there. Have fun cleaning that thing out and make it pretty.

good pick up man. Just wondering where did you find that kind of deal at?

Hmmm. The S13 rear speakers went into pockets in the trim, above the shock towers.

I'm probably way-the-hell off base, but that seat, to my tired eyes, looks like OE from an early- to mid-80s Porsche.

Definately a fixxer upper. That was a good deal and you should have no guilt if you mess something up while fixing it.

Gotta get rid of that interior and dash and set it on fire. At least your ending the pain and misery the car has been through. It's like you rescued a P.O.W.

Nice find...for a c note...yep!

Lots of sweat to put it back.

That foam is someones crazy idea to remove resonance from the panels for that mid bass only speaker location...someone choosed. Definitly not stock.

I would cover that speaker location over and even screw a plate over the holes to make things at least back to same rigidity.

Find a wrecked car with a nice interior and you got it going on.

Some engine pics would be nice. You are missing a ton of stuff.

Dude that butchered it had no brain. Needs to get an 87CRX to punish.

That brick red seat is making my eyes bleed. It looks like its made of 1970's bowling ball bag material. Overall its a nice pickup tho (if you have somewhere to hide it while you fix it up). It'd be a nice autocross car with the gutted interior.

I can see why it was only 100 bucks. anyways hope ya turn it into something that kicks azz. Is that a Auto?? or is it missin a pedal??

OT - I found a 86 Toyota Corolla SR5 for 100, that would be a cool project car, along with the S13 I wanna get.

ha yea i dont like the red color but it is soo comfortable and looks stock and i love where all the controls are and how it is electric(kinda makes the car seem rich hehe) but yea the full interior was in ****ty shape so i ripped it all out i figure ill clean the entire interior and paint it black then get black carpet to replace where the regular carpet is and then a thin sturdy piece of carpeted wood to cover all the rear, just 2 frpnt seats a dash and maybe some panels. i am going to keep the dash it is in great shape and just use paint thinner and scrub forever to get it clean yea i hate all the foam and he also and sticky sound dampening fabric that mimics what the black stuff all over the metal floor does..its all coming out i might get that seat rehopolsterd(sp??!!) its just soo comfortable yea it is gonna be a track beast with a fully rebuilt sr20, and a huge sway bar (alredy on it) I want to be able to drive it everyday so it will have a decent system, im even toying with the idea of subs where the rear passengers should be sitting. I plan to do a 5- lug swap and 300zx brakes all around and maybe 300zx gunmetal rims(i think they came that color if not ill paint them) Even though im not going for looks too much i want it to look clean so its gonna be painted a flat black and have black interior with red stitching and some very light red accenting like maybe a kinda red shift knob, Yea i have pics of the engine bay but it dosnt have the sr in it so it is sad :( . Im hoping to get a rear stb and paint the end things red so that it will look hott when u see it threw the dash. also the same to the front stb but i definatly want ac and poer steering other than those luxuries i think ill skip on putting in power windows and doors. Ok well sorry for talkin soo long i mainly just needed to get this stuff down for myself its been running threw my head all day. aslo does anyone thing it would be a good idea to have the "custom" speaker holes welded over with what should be there or a flat piece of metal? ok thanks for your replies im really excited here are some more pics, ill just link them so that it doesnt slow you guys down too much. Also the car is 5 speed and it has all pedals but the gas doesnt have a gay race cover on it and this car has 130000 miles just info if anywone wanted to know not too bad

Nasty white sound dampening (http://www.240motorsports.com/sr/car/1.jpg)

More pics of dash (http://www.240motorsports.com/sr/car/11.jpg)

DMC.....if you want I have a set of tan tweed front and rear S13 seats that you can have for free if you come to pick them up (Charlotte NC). Both are in pretty good shape. There is a little bit of "automatic seatbelt track" black grease that got on a small part of the driver seat...but that probably can be cleaned off. You could try and dye them black....or just get them recovered. Let me know.

DMC, I PM'ed you back...take a look if you would. I do have to warn you that the drivers seat needs a little work (see PM for details). Free is free tho...if its worth the 6 hour drive for you.

I think those seats are 92-96 prelude seats wrapped. They really look like it ebcause ofthe shape and the thing on the side.

I would be leary using paint thinner on the dash. Vinyl and paint thinner does not get along. If you do use it, try a small hidden spot to test. I would hate to see your dash fall apart.

That sound deadening removal is a biatch, good luck with the removal.

Hammer
Chisle
Duh? Use these to chip away the harded foam and scrap away
the light foam on the wheel wells.

Wire brush disk (drill attachment)
Power drill (or other high rpm hand tool)
Use to "brush" away the adhesive residue left by chiseling

optional;
Dual Action Sander (DA), 220+ grit sand paper
Use this if your looking for real professional results. Use to soften edges around removed rust, drill holes, imperfections in stock paint. Pretty much an all around tool to smoothe things over.

Palm Grinder
most of us with 94 or lower 240s have rust in the wheel well, use this tool to grind out the rust, then use the DA to soften the edges.

Body fill (compound and hardener)
This ****s a biatch to use, but if you wanna fill those drill holes (drilling out welds) use body filler. Its not the "right" way but if you use spray primer on the hole first, let it dry, then use the body fill. You shouldnt have any problems.

Spray Paint
Use the fumes in a bag to releive the stress of this ungodly repetative and a$$ dragging task. Then maybe you'll wanna paint what you just spent the last 4 days on.

good luck brother, have fun with that shiiiiiiiit

Its a project and it gonna require some TLC.

Lexan those windows, remove the rear seat back brackets, just drill out the welds, you cant miss em. Srpay the holes with primer to ensure theres no rust. Prep and paint the interior and she spankin new..

As fo the exterior...um... 6k in body work should do it from a rep. body shop. You'll loose the ride for 2+ months though.

thanks alot weird that is going to be very helpful and jsquared are you sure? i dont know im just asking because that seat rocks. Also what would you suggest to remove the paint from the dast?

weirdstyles.net

Nothing will ever be able to remove that paint, and return it to factory condition. Understand this.

If you want, what you can do is attempt to peel the paint off. If it sticks, doesnt CHIP and is HELLA hard to peel off, thats a good sign. You can then just paint over it to your desire. I would suggest Krylons new Fusion Spray Paint, I recently went to 7 different HUGH hardware/craft/hobby stores and couldnt find it. Found out a mom n pop hardware store across the street had it the whole time. Its sick ****, and use ONLY flat non-gloss colors. A gloss finish will show every imperfection and what have you, not to mention look cheesey. Im not sure on the gloss qualities of the Fusion, I ended up buying something else before I found the Krylon, and my sh1ts shinny...damnit. Stupid hooby craft crap paint. On lil can, bout the size of...ummm...your mouse (seriously) is 6 bux. While Fusion is 4.89 for a huge *** can of a better product....damnit

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRR

just replace the dash---> :-D

Sorry, but the second option may be a bit of work, but the end result will be ten times better. Supposing you find the dash cheap at a j.y. will make the job that much better.

ORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR-----> :-D

If this ISNT your daily b1tch car, then gut everything out of the front. Including the dash. Take the dash to a fiberglass molding company and have those faukers duplicate a replica. They will say they dont, but tell em to suck a fat one and do it. What you can also do at this juncture, is mark outlines for guage pods, radio/vent/ac control relocations and even speakers. Hell you could be REALLY swift and put a decent a$$ cup holder in there and make us all envious.

Now heres the thing, before I get hammed by the "thats rice" crew.

A fiberglass dash, as opposed to OEM will offer much less weight, easy installation or removal for race day, easily painted paint down the road and, option to add/delete guages and/or electronics.

Relocate A/C plumbing, controls, new speakers, radio etc and have a f*cking blast with your new F.G. dash board...

third option is gonna be exspensive, but I would love to do it...

I have a fully gutted DD and its great. When you hit a bumb, and you can hear your shock sounding like a lil BOV, there nothing better...

Door panels? You can try and sand em, but due to the texture of the original surface, you will end up with little bits of the blue(?) on the panels, that wont go away unless you sand all the way down to flat plastic. Which may or may not be what you want to do. Also look at the structural integrity and all around suckyness of the panels. If they look like paint isn't going to save em, then toss em.

Cliff notes: Shocks cool, Sand till flat or dont sand at all, integrity
