SO I was driving home yesterday on the freeway when my car died. i threw it in 4th to try to start it again but no luck. ended up towing the car home. When you go to start it it doesnt crank but makes a clicking sound. But if it was the starter why would it die suddenly? I checked for fuel and spark and both are readily available. I also checked fuses and all the little sensors on the motor and the two on the battery cable. All are plugged in. Im about to go check wheel well wires cus my shits dropped hella low..in the meantime..any ideas?!
Its a ka24e with about 177xxx miles with a rebuild about 20xxx miles ago. starter and alternator are new. the rebuild was done by a shop with all new gaskets and injectors. All from nissan.
thanks People

dead battery/alternator

also, wondering how you checked for spark if it doesn't crank?

Did it die all of a sudden- like one minute your cruising along, the next youre just coasting? Or did it slowly lose rpm's and eventually come to a halt? Did it make any noises before it died, even in the seconds leading up to it? Was it driving 100% normal up until this? Where did you check for fuel at?

died all of a sudden, no noise or anything. drove fine until it shut down. I checked for fuel at the pump and also at the lines. and all hardlines

A seized engine needs replacement or rebuilding. How do you know its seized if you turned it over?

If its a sohc, your best bet would be replace it.. theyre very cheap used, and rebuilding will cost you a fortune compared to what its worth.

ok final update. i tried to manually crank it and it only would move a small amount. then I went to start the car and it fired for a sec then died, checked the manual crank and its stuck. wont budge. Engines fucked guess its time to go sr or dohc at least. thanks for all the help guys
