What is safe boost to run in an sr20det? I run 1.0-1.1 bar when driving hard. Is that safe or what is it okay to take it to or not to worry about it. I just want it to last and want to know if im safe.

Depends on the year...if it's an s14 blacktop you can safely run 15 all day, any kind of driving. For the track you can push 20+.

So you are saying on my s14 blacktop, I'd have to turn it down 3 psi from stock boost to be safe. Wrong.

Most people believe 12lbs is pushing stock turbo. Some see duty cycle's in the 90%s at about 12lbs. I ran 10 just to be safe. Anything above that felt like I was blowing hot air.....moreso because I'm still on SMIC.

Range of 8 to 11 should be ok.
7 is safe. no doubt about that. Safe as in no matter what. Old speaks the truth actually..
I would not run a continuouis 14 to 17 on an engine past 60K miles unless I knew it had weekend oil changes.
Let me ask you. Has your oil ever been able to turn any color than tan? Has it ever been black?
When you look down the head cover, is it like brand new in there or are the parts dark and black?
I thought so.
I am the anti black oil dude.
I never let oil get darker than light tan..then it is out of there and I run N/A
Black oil means excessive wear. might as well have no oil at that point if it is my engine.

I change mine every about every 2200 miles....before it gets dark.

Personally I wouldnt go above 10 lbs boost with a SMIC+T25+370cc.

For people that dont know what they got themselves/getting themselves into....7lbs is surely THE SAFEST boost.

JESUS PEOPLE...you are all being lame. If stock boost is 10 psi, of course it is safe, furthermore "safest" boost would be none, so stop splitting hairs.
I wouldn't go to 1, 1.1 bar without proper fuel management (Z32 mafs, bigger injectors or higher fuel pressure, Tuned ECU or SAFC).
I'd say safe boost on stock SMIC without fuel management is 10-11psi while with proper fuel management, FMIC would be 14 psi for T25 and 17 psi for T28.
BUT!!! The safest boost it the stockest boost. ;)

I currently have:
Redtop Sr20det
rebuilt and balanced turbo by turbonetics T25
Blitz downpipe
Greddy Silvia 80MM exhaust
Jim Wolf Intake W/K&N
Apexi FMIC
Apix Multichecker to tell me my stats
Blitz Blow off
Blitz turbo timer and dual boost controler

The problem is the stock S13 turbo is a piece of poo.
By stock 7psi I'm guessing that its already out of its efficiency range, and to run 14 or above that little thing is spinning so fast that it's demise is only a matter of time.

Stock s14 sr "notchtop" & the most boost i see stock is 6psi.
Guess i must have a leak

welli aways watch my apexi multichecker. and at 15 psi my injectors are at 88% or so. So that keeps me in the knowing its okay.

do you have an upgraded fuel pump?
and 88% at 15psi seems kinda low, someone i know (AVC-R can monitor injector cycle) is hitting mid-90%s at 14psi...

I honestly dont know if i have an upgraded fuel pump. Its really loud though when the car is idleing you can hear the fuel pump just loud. Im a newbie sorry guys. The guy i bought it off of was 41 year old who owned a shop. He just said to not take it over 1 bar which is what he ususally runs it at. And when we do run it at 1bar itll peak 1.19 and show 88-95% on injector capacity. I just was wanting to know if thats good or bad thats all this thread was for. Thanks

I suggest going back to that guy and ask him these questions.
What fuel pump?
What Injectors?
Explain what you did to make it safe to run 1bar.

I am pretty sure, the stock SR runs 0.6Bar, and I know most of the people with FMIC and basic bolt on can run a safe 0.8 ~ 0.9 Bar. Most of the aftermarket ECU have the boost setting goes up to 0.9 bar for stock T25 with some timing and fuel tuning.

let's put a larger turbo and larger injectors into the equation; with proper tuning, how much power would the SR hold.
