i am looking to purchase a set of TE37 in 18x10.5
the question i want to ask is, are both +22 and +15 offset has the same face and concave?
the reason i ask because i want the most concave available for the 18x10.5 size, i can run both +22 and +15! but the +22 i have a little more room to play around with tires and camber, but if the +15 is more concave, i wouldnt mind that too!!

so for the TE37 owners, which one is more or are they the same?
here are some pictures:

here is +22

lower the offset the more concave you get...lower the better imo..

i actually am pretty sure that the +15 and +22 have the same face, just different back spacing / back pad

This.

I'm pretty sure Volk wouldn't re-make a face over 7mm's of difference.

nathanong is right.

i was thinking about getting a pair of +22s for the same reason. i dont mind spacers for concave wheels.

I applaud your decision to get real TEs.

Agreed. Remember the magazine ad with the white G35 coupe with white Volks? I still want that combo.

Lol. This guy.

Yes since it is not a billet wheel (they're made in a mold) TE's have the same face just a different back pad for 18x10.5 et22 and et15. It'll still clear brakes/etc at 22.

concave looks nicer when you have 19's, do to the spokes being longer or
maybe the width are wider so it gives it that deeper concave look like the Z in the last pic(rears).

but idk im just guessing

im running both 17 +22 and 18 +12 on my car

thanks for the help guys!!
but do u guys notice that the bronze TE "looks" less concave then the white, blue, or black TE when its on the car??

any one owns +22 and +15 in 18x10.5 can actually Measure the concave for us?? (just put a flat wood across the wheel, and measure the center cap "hole" to the wood, that might tell us if the 15 and 22 have the same face!!!)

HELPHELP!!

ps: Azndoc, i know u own a set of te37 in 18x10.5 +15!!!!! btw nice car!

You're trying to slap on 10.5j up front on an S-chassis? Might wanna figure out if it'll clear your suspension up front...

It's the color. The concavity is the same. Only the thickness of the backpad changes for different offsets,

your eyes are playing tricks dawg. noone needs to measure concavity, +15 and +22 have same face.

alright champs!!!
so new topic to decide!! i have a white car, should i get TE37 in White or the infamous TE37 SL??
this is really hard for me!! and remember the SL cost less then the regular TE!!!

i was referring 19's in general and the Z i was talking about the rears might be wider giving it a little more lip?

Same face. Youre right.

So pretty much, the bigger the TE rim [18,19s] even though it has the same face, since the spokes are longer the concave will look deeper?

I have TE's 17x9 +22 all around and thinking of buying a pair of 10's for the rear with as much concave as I can get...

18s > 17 in concavity when comparing the same width. 19s have a completely different face, incorporating lip with a flatter face.

Just a quick question, when you guys are referring to differences in the back pad, what exactly are you speaking of? I know it's the area that's touching the hub but I'm curious to know exactly how it differs between offsets.

articdragon192
09-29-2010, 01:45 AM
The pack part of the wheel where the wheel makes contact with the hub. That's the backpad. The thicker the backpad, the more it spaces the wheel out, and the lower the offset.

Interesting. I made a thread similar to this one and people were basically telling me the opposite of what you are saying, unless the lug holes go deeper along with the thicker back pad?

articdragon192

Yes, the lugholes need to me a certain distance from the backpad, so if the backpad is thicker, the lugholes are deeper as well.

Ahhh ok cool. Thanks for the help!

By the way I know Charles Tran. He showed me your car on VMRs a while back haha.
