engine rebuild help

first post on the forum.. looking for a bit of help.

I drive a s14a silvia,

Im rebuilding it at the moment.

Started to rebuild the bottom end and putting the piston no1 in and it is really tight.

The new rings are standard size. It takes alot of effort to get it in.

there is a tiny little lip at the top of the cylinder..

it came out fine.

anyone any ideas?

did you have the block honed out ?

yup..

right so turns out to be fubared..

need to get it bored out..

go get a ridge reamer, its a tool made for getting rid of that lip at the top of the cylinder, then hone it again. don't forget to measure your bore, very important.
