I had that feeling. Just couldn't remember how the numbers lined up with years. If that makes any sense.

944's were made from '85 or so until the early 90's where it was replaced by the 968. So, it can't be from the 70's, even the 924 (what the 944 "sort of" replaced) wasn't made until around '77 or '78.

guys you know nothing about porsches if you think a 944 is from the 70's. The 944 is from the mid to late 80's it is basically a German equivelent of the 240sx. It was built before the 240sx . It has more power and handling that matchs the 240sx. It was one of the best handling Porsches ever built barring the 914-916. It was not a traditional Porsche body style so it lost its market value. It came in Turbo and non turbo . It has independant rear suspension . If you want to know where Mazda stole the FC styling cues from look no further.
The 944 today on the open market in excellent condition has like a $2500 value. joke is, unless you have hookups, the cost for rebuilding the engine will cost you close to 10k. its a Porsche.
Other than that they are great cars and quite fun to drive and driftable.

my cars a white porsche 1986 944...i replaced the engine with a 87 engine which has more horsepower...its has a clean title...porsche 5 lug rims... as u can tell...the body is flaired out stock...if you need pictures just im me at pinoy24747 on aol or aim...iight then guys..late
