alright, posted this in FA, didn't get any help, any of you guys know what's wrong?

My rev-limiter is not working on my SR (stock except wastegate actuator, IC, etc basically nothing electronic except fuel pump). my revlimiter doesn't work (accidentally hit like 7700 or so at an autoX). is the revlimiter activated by a transmission sensor, the CAS, the crank sensor, what? i really want the revlimiter to work, especially since with open diff, wheelspin leads to zinging revs...

theory: got my S-AFC wired up tonight, turns out i tried shifting at what my tach showed as redline (7500) but the S-AFC peak function says I only hit like 7246 or so. Maybe I went past the "red line" on the tach but I didn't actually get high enough for the rev-limiter to kick in? I really think I saw it almost hit 8k in the rain once (like a month ago), but maybe not, it was barely even a split second when one tire zinged in the wet.

anyone let me know what wire or sensor controls the revlimiter?

jj, i've glaced at the fsm didn't see anything. I'll find it when i get a chance

Check all the wires between cps and eccs. One of them has to be it. That's all I can think of

cps = crank position sensor? Someone on FA said the only sensor that reads rpm is the CAS... and i don't have a wiring diagram, where are you in NC?

cps=camshaft position sensor. It monitors engine speed and piston position. you know, instead of a distributor. I'm pretty sure it's the same thing as the crank angle sensor just different names. there should be four wires going out of the cps, two of them go to the ecu. those two divide into four and take up four pin locations.

JJ, it's Nick, we met a bit ago. you can just come over if you want and look at the fsm, I'm in myers park neighborhood. call me up if you want.

ah, hey nick :D yeah for the SR it's called "Cam Angle Sensor," same thing you were talking about. I'm pretty sure there isn't anything wrong with the CAS or it's wiring, since i'm getting a good reading on the S-AFC. someone on FA mentioned opening the ECU up and seeing if there was a daughterboard (e.g. aftermarket ECU, which would mean eliminated revlimiter). in a separate thread, the stock revlimiter might be at 7800 and not 7500 like i thought... i'll have to see :D
