Should i buy this 240SX?

Yo i'ma be real... I am naturally new to 240sx modding.... Heres my quick story.. I had a beautiful hooked up Honda Accord, i totaled it... Now i'm looking for a new ride... Then i realized hey the 240 is cool... mad rare... i should go for it....

The bad thing is, i'm BROKE i only got like jus about 3000 to spend....and i haven't seen too many 94-98 240s at that price....

OK OK Basically i seen one for only $2500, red but it had 150,000miles on it... Being a Honda kid i woulda brought it,road on it till it had about 190,000 miles then swaped the engine with one of the many choices i would have had........ but i dont know if thats a shit load of miles for a 240 of not... Also about engine swaps, how much is it for a normal swap... are there even alotta options?

Guys i know i sound dumb, like i said i'm knew to these rides to help me out... should i buy that 240 is does 150,000 miles mean its basically dead... and is a engine swap practical, like how much do they run for...
please help, i want a car soon

Well, to start off with the years you posted were 94 - 98. &nbsp; a 94 is a different breed of animal entirely. &nbsp;They changed in 95-96 then again (only not so drastically) in 97-98. &nbsp;

My car is a 95 with 125k on it. &nbsp; Still purs like a kitten (all highway miles though) &nbsp; If you think that the car has not been beaten on, or that they were highway miles (my car cruises @ 95mph at a mere 3200rpms) &nbsp;then 150k isn't even close to HALF the life of the car.
Of course engine swaps are everyones dream....most people will argue an sr20det...thats my favorite...but some other people will probably give you some other ideas. &nbsp;Swaps run in the ballpark of $3k for an sr...not sure what other engine prices run exactly.
Anyways, if the car you were looking at was in nice shape....buy it. &nbsp;
You'll love the 240...and having an FR car <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

Listen to some other peoples advice though...I'm still kind of new to nissan myself....so others may have more helpful information.

but yea basically i meant 95-98... since there more along the same model lines...

you sure that 150,000miles aint alot -=) hahaha, i dont know man.... I'd like to have the car but shit seems like the world doesn't want me to have it, probably the biggest problem with the import scene.... I'ma try to look into though, i like the car and i know how to mod and make &nbsp;a clean car... i dont have to prove that to anyway, ask the guys that seen my past project cars they 'll tell you i already proved myself.... i like the car, i'ma try my best to have a nice one... i just wanted anwsers to my questions... ####

To give you an idea about mileage, I have 156K on my '92 and it's still running strong....and that's with several hundred miles of autox and track time.

Nissans will last a long time. It wouldn't surprise me at all to hear of one going over 300,000 miles. Sounds like you're getting a good deal on that car, I'd go for it.

On to the car: YOU SHOULD TEST DRIVE IT!!! $2500 is a very good price for a 240. See how the body is... you definitely don't want a bent frame. Is this a five-speed?
If the body is really clean, and the tranny is nice, and it runs generally good, you should get it. Eventually, you'll wanna toss that motor. You could replace it with another KA (you can find them for cheap since a lot of people discard them for SRs and RBs and other popular motor swaps for 240s) or you can even go for one of the popular motor swaps. Overall, there's plenty of information on this forum. Feel free to ask... but also try and make use of the &quot;Search&quot; option, since sometimes we all get a little annoyed by repetitive questions. Bringing up old topics is definitely ok!

Unless you feel confortable repairing cars or at least know what to look for, I'd take it down to your local Nissan dealership for a courtesy inspection before you buy it. &nbsp;A lot of them have free seasonal inspections (basically they want to tell you what's wrong with your car so hopefully you'll pay them to fix it). &nbsp;If they say a bunch of stuff is wrong with the car... ask them to show you. &nbsp;Then you'll at least know what you'll need to fix if you decide to buy the car. &nbsp;You don't want to buy a 3k car and not have any money left over to fix that leaking front crank seal/rear main seal/power steering feed line/ect...

Stick with honda buddy, The thing I appreciate most about 240's, are they're not riced out like every single civic. &nbsp;If your lookin to 'dope out', or pimp out your mad ride, with your peep's chillin at the donut shop, stick with honda!, you can be among all your dope peeps that way. &nbsp;240's need to be treated with respect, we don't need it becoming another civic, and our image ruined.....

coldsun...i was a honda boy myself. gave it to my sis n found my 95 for $2k. previous owner was a kid that crashed it, dad got mad, wanted to sell it for $3k, i saw the car, offered $2k, and drove home with a car i knew ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about. all i knew about it was that it was a coupe n not many out there.

to make my story short, fell in love with RWD n TORQUE!!! something i never knew about in a honda. im at ~125k miles but that sucka pulllllllllllllllllls.

so go for it n get a 240 and become a nissan MAN. :-D

if u in so cal., keep an eye out, cuz u'll see 240 going for a good $3k-$4500....dunno about other places...

Well most people come from a diff brand of car so screw people that give you shit about coming from honda. There good cars and last a long time.... as long as you dont rice them out(youll jinx it).
The Nissan community is pretty tight and there is not a lot of people ricing them out yet and we would like to keep it that way...
With all that said, if you find a 240 at a good deal then get it and enjoy the good times to come...

I'd just like to bring up a point that you don't have to act like you're in some kind of club where everyone is respected as elite drifting racers. If someone wants to "pimp out" or "ghettify" their car, then let them do it. I've never seen so many people get upset about "ruining" their car's image as the ones on this forum. Yeah it's great that a good number of you are into drifting culture, but that doesn't mean you're on a fuckin pedestal above everyone else.
