Go to www.copernic.com

Download the free program and install.

Search for SR20DET SWAP Shops.

All of them will come up.

Ones with dead links will not. Select remove dead links.

Once you get them all, list them...members here will tell you the pros and cons.

Some are top flight, some are ripoff shops.

Members here know.

Unfortunantly, all this publicity of SR swaps is hurting us rather than helping in the long run. The prices will get outragous (already are IMHO) and clips that costs 2200 to 2500 6 months ago are running into the 3's.

You can buy a nice car running and mod it for not much more.

Clips are getting too expensive due to demand.

A KA engine is just as capable if not more..but cost about the same to realize the performance.

Another resource is search here for SR VS KA swap.

Hundreds if not thousands of posts to sift through.

G' luck.

Just mention in the article how the KA engine is a VIABLE alternative. Especially if mag articles praise the SR to the point of making them a bad deal due to high cost.

As the writer of the article, it is YOUR job to do RESEARCH (how ironic, given your SN) and find out information. Given that this is a 240SX-oriented forum, we have discussed this numerous times. A simple click of the big red SEARCH button above would give you ALL the information you need.

Not to mention a google search. It's incredible how some people manage to get jobs writing articles and can't even do a little research themselves. Halfway down the page in this very forum theres a nice long thread about how Cartune SUCKS.

Not trying to be a punk, but...

which magazine? if you work for one of the more mechanically/technically-retarded ones (Import Tuner, Stupid Street, etc.) you might want to start off by telling some of the writers to pull their heads out of their arses and stop ragging on the KA. Yeah, it's kinda weak stock, yeah minor bolt-ons don't do much, but a properly-done KA turbo is going to be damn quick. or how about this... actually recommend *GASP* suspension mods? I know a lot of people who have done a bunch of suspension work before even thinking of adding power, and it's probably the best way to go. it also helps the driver get more control over the car, and when suspension is done first, the driver tends to do things (like autoX or track events, maybe?) that improve the driver's skill, which is a mod that works on any car. and you can't begin to imagine how much of a pain running 12psi on an SR is with an open diff :hammer:

As far as shops that do swaps: JK Motorsports in Winterville, NC (East Coast, what what :D). Website hasn't been updated in a while and is a bit lacking, but that's because they're doing stuff in the shop all the time :aw: Very knowledgable people there.

Every "Import" shop that can afford to buy a Stupid street magazine does SR swaps. There are several shops in town here doing them and there are several shops in every city doing them. So sounds like an impossible mission to me. There are probably hundreds of shops that do at least a few swaps a year and many more that have done at least one.....

after visiting japan last month, i found that that it's becoming much harder to find SR's in Japan. All the junkyard owners are selling them to exporters who are willing to pay much more than local people. As a result, the SR and other Silvia parts are becoming more expensive in Japan. So yea, this Silvia trend thing is really messing things up for a lot of Silvia fans both in the US and Japan. A lot of cluecless JDM tyte ppl are paying more than nesscary for their "silvia motor" (no offense to those with SRs if you always have been a fan, but i am talking about the ppl that got in after the trend started).

I personally lean more towards the KA-T side than the SR-T side. And I think the expensive price for the SR-T and the fact that it will be played out soon, will lead to more true fans to get the KA-T and help it's aftermarket and such grow.

It's also my job to get every single information I can get on such an article. If you think that I'm ignorant Super Street writer then you are wrong. So, don't post on a subject if you just want to show off your "own3d" pics.

I'm not at liberty to give out that information yet.

All information I get is and will be credited upon printing.

I say play it back the otherway for your editor, and see if you can sell him on it...

A definitive KA-T article, on how much of a surprise performer it can be for the same amount of money, or much less if you spend too much time on zilva.net and whine and bug and beg and search.

Actually I take that back. When I blow my KA I want a plethora of cheap low mileage engines from JDM-Tyte-yo kind of people that don't want them anymore.

actually last time i checked ricky chu an editor on super street is one of the most knowledgable writers for sr20det tech and has lots of hands on experience with SR's at the pioneering Sr20det swap shop V-spec (when it was open and when he worked there) and also a friend to the shop that has the most powerful stock block Sr20det car in the USA: ww.phase2motortrend.com. I'd check my facts b4 i made such negative and blanket statements.

motorex's team of ken and klay do great work on sr20det swaps. Ken Flores is a wiring genius on par w/ phase2's wiring guy (name withheld) and klay is a good mechanic and is very good at dealing w/ customers and finding them the random item their missing or that is broken on their swaps.

SR Research.

I think your batting average is going down rapidly with the holier than thou attitude.

I gave you one of the best kept little secrets on how to search the ENTIRE web with multiple search engines at once.

A well written article must also have some originallity. SR this, SR that. Throw some KA in there and you will have that originallity.

I felt pretty comfortable until your snide remark after Dousans post. When you learn who "Dousan" is and the press he has gotten lately, I think you might want to just look at taking his advice and others. He is a rising star...he has made a heap of noise considering his car and the hrs behind the wheel. He is what I like to call "a natural"

He placed very strong with a bone stock KA...and lifting the tires off the ground controlled as well.

I have been writing articles for over 20 years. To get there, I had to be humble and I dared not form an opinion publically or otherwise to my competition. I considered that very poor taste. Once you get in your 40's and put some water under the bridge...this may suddenly become quite clear to you but until you respect your competition...prepare to be eaten by it.

Just friendly advice.

As much as I loved that "ow3ned" pic with DOMOKUN, I did it because you need to learn to use the SEARCH function... if you had bothered to use it, you'd have all the answers you need.

Now go write your silly "article" for your "magazine," oh great SR20 expert. Don't care what magazine you're wiritng for, all I know is that if they are hiring people like you to write articles, I don;t want anything to do with it...

Hey, bad publicity sells stronger than good eh?

I just wish he, she, or it could have remained non defensive is all. That sucks if you ask most people.

You know what you call a Doctor that finished last in his class?

Doctor.

I think the writer could have come across more humble.

I can name 6 sites that would chew his a$$ out for coping an attitude..they would "piranha" him....(or her..)

I was hard on another dude that wrote with his basic forreay.. "if you are not a Japanese driver you are a piece of scum attitude"

I was drifting in 74...long before it was called drifting...we called it "tailsliding" or "fishtailing"

Back in the day...drifting was going off course and balling your ride up....

"uhhh looks like he drifted....too bad, time to get a new car"

Wanna see some cocky writers?? Look at the Bike (as in mountain bike) and Skateboard rad writers. Some of those are as much of a joke as the J-lo show (aXXceespool hollywood)

I should have put a (sp) after it.

I use that word once in many many moons so I could not picture the spelling...but you know what I mean..and seeing me miss-spell words has to be entertaining as well.

I butchered Citroen earlier.

Thanks, I fixed it. :)

Yep, ran 'em off.

We were easy on 'em eh?
