I am in the process of installing my sound sytem on my new 1995 240sx SE, and ran into a problem. I need to be able to mount an amp and two small crossovers in the trunk some where. I planned on putting it on the shelf between the two strut towers, but upon further inspection it looks as if that may be the gas tank. I was just wondering if anyone could provide me with infromation regarding the location of the gas tank, or just let me know if it is ok to mount it there. I was planning on doing it on the left side as you look in the trunk, because what looks like a fuel pump is on the right. Sorry for the question, but I do not have time to search all over the place and just got the car so I am not too familiar with it. Any help is extremely appreciated.

if you plan on mounting anything between the rear struts be sure to use VERY VERY short screws. the gas tanks is right under that area. the fuel pump is located inside of the gas tanks not on teh out side. the thing you see outside could be the power antenna.

Ok thanks so much. If YOU were doing this, where would you recommend mounting it?

i mounted two 12 inch long amps in that area and ran into no problems. what i did was cut out a peice of wood the same dimesons and the surface area of the carpet area. then i cut a peice that was as long as the big peice and mounted it perpendicular on one side of the big peioce. it looked like a 2 inch high ramp that i then mount the amps on. this allowed me to run the wiring under the wood to keep everything looking clean.

I'm sorry but I'm not sure I follow exactly what you're saying. Do you, or anyone else for that matter, happen to know exactly how far I can go through the sheet metal before hitting the tank?
