If I am not mistaken, avatar is the picture under my name? How do I get it to work?

You already do have one. However, it's not a valid address.

could you please enlighten me on how I know what would be valid or not?

Help on Avatars
Avatars Set up v1.1 by Scorpz

Avatars:
If avatars have been enabled on the board you may be able to select a avatar. To select a avatar simply scroll up or down and select any one of the avatar options listed in the avatar menu then click the "submit" button on the bottom of the page.

Your avatar will then be shown when submitted.

Previous:
If this option has been enabled on the board you may be able to select your previous avatar on default. To select your previous avatar simply select "Previous" in the avatar menu then click the "submit" button on the bottom of the page.

Your avatar will then be shown as your previous avatar when submitted.

Custom:
When a custom avatar has been made available for you a note will appear below the avatar selection saying so. To select your custom avatar if you have one simply select "Custom" in the avatar menu then click the "submit" button on the bottom of the page.

Your avatar will then be shown as your custom avatar when submitted.

These avatar questions get fairly annoying. I'm not saying you didn't, but to those that haven't, please read the help files before posting questions like this. If you still can't figure it out then we'll be glad to help.

they are saying if its available on the forum...they are generic instructions for ikonboard (forum software) so mark has the choice whether or not to allow people (the whole forum) to use them. He has it enabled. So just follow the instructions and you should be set. As for a server to put pics on, I don't know of any but webshots and I don't think they allow directly linking to pics anymore. Anybody know of a free pic hosting place?

Ok I wrote this awhile ago but i'll copy it here for you. I even have pics so you know what to do!
-------------------------------
First find a photo of the correct size on the INTERNET, it cannot be on your home computer.
Right click on the photo and goto the propertie's like in the pic.
http://community.webshots.com/storage...._ph.jpg
Now copy the URL like i have highlighted in this pic.
http://community.webshots.com/storage...._ph.jpg
Now you have the pic name, go into your profile and type it into the box that is highlighted oin the bottom, and change the avatar selection to "personal" like i have highlighted on the top.
http://community.webshots.com/storage...._ph.jpg
Now click sumbit. Once done with that, go back into your profile and select "personal" in the avatar box one more time and click submit. Viola, your done and have a nice pretty pic

For an Avatar, like the small image that is 48x48 pixels wide can be uploaded to the server and will show up as yours as long as you name your Avatar image the same thing as your nickname. So go here http://www.zilvia.net/forum/avupload.cgi and then upload the image and then go into your profile and select custom avatar or whatever until your nickname comes up. Note that as soon as the new forum software is done you Avatar will not be allowed to be anything over 64x64 pixels.

For a custom Signature like what your talking about you need to go into your profile and put in whatever img you want as your signature. Keep it small please. I will also have a restriction on the size of these with the new forum.
