I've got a couple sets of Shift Return springs for sale for $35 shipped. They fit sohc or dohc ka transmission, I am not sure on sr20 trannys. You are welcome to try but sale is final lol. These are great if you want to give your shifter a stiffer feel and help eliminate some shifter free-play. The only brand name company that makes them are HKS: HKS Shift Return Springs for Nissan 240sx [ 27006-AN001 ] - Enjuku Racing - Performance Parts and High Quality Fabrication (http://www.enjukuracing.com/shift-return-springs-nissan-240sx-p-6610.html)

These aren't HKS springs, but that also means they don't have the HKS price. They are stiffer than stock, and I can say it is much harder to miss shifts with these, not to mention it gives the shifter a much more solid feel. I will also include an OEM plastic Shifter bushing, brand new, which if you've never replaced the bushing, years of changing gears wears down the bushing which creates more free play in the shifter.

interesting. If they're not HKS, what are they? Random perfect fit springs from some other car? or??

I was wondering the same thing, actually. I hate that stick in a box of legos feel of my shifter...

The springs are the same as OEM, just stiffer. I got them from a guy who does a lot of rebuilds and stuff, and I've been running mine for about 200 miles, my friend has had his in his tranny for more than 1000, still feels the same as the day they were put in.

That plastic bushing is usually the culprit for stick in box of legos feeling. I'm not sure if I would want stiffer springs on my shifter... does it really make a big difference?

It's not by any means unbearable.
I personally love it, it makes it more difficult to accidentally shift into the wrong gear, it's difficult to explain via text, you really have to feel for your self, but it does not make shifting itself harder
