may as well pressure wash it, and hang it on the wall

bore + sleeves is gonna be about your only solution.
otherwise, is now art.
Time to make a cool coffee table.

What caused that? Almost looks like it was on fire.

How? This side of sleeves and a complete overhaul, it's a lost cause

Thanks for the responses.
Yeah, I figured it was toast. That wasn't the cause of death though. This motor actually spun a rod bearing and that is why it was disassembled.
I don't know when the detention took place that caused that. I had it for a while and ran like a top. May have been before I got the motor. Compression was good. No blown headgasket or anything.
I thought I was going to be able to use it until I cracked it open and saw that.
I was going to do a whole rebuild on this motor, but don't feel like sleeving it.
If someone wants it, PM me an offer. Ill be very reasonable lol
Its located in greenville, sc.

While SR's are known to spin bearings on stock motors, detonation wrecks having on rod bearings in general...which can help to spin them and ruin them early. Imagine detonation as taking a sledge hammer to the top of the piston...the only thing taking up the impact are those little brass rod bearings...not good.
The 'eating away' at the liner and the block itself is a classic case of detnonation...while a jackhammer on bearings, it's also a torch on the piston/block at times too.

Oh yeah, I imagine detonation reeks havoc on the bearings. Surprisingly the cylinder that had no signs of detonation was the one that spun the bearing.
So now I'm in the market for a new block. Anyone know what's the going rate for a bare s13 sr20det block? lol

should buff out =p

Honestly, if you sleeve it, you should be alright. Then you can run some real boost. Provided you get pistons and rods too.

I've got a perfect sr block sitting in my garage. Just spun rod bearings so block is good. PM me if interested. I'll sell it cheap.
Why not start off with a good platform instead of trying to salvage a busted block?

Take it to a machinist. It's already out, and most places will give you an estimate for free. I've seen worse be salvaged, trust me. I brought a Ford block to my local guy, looked a lot like that. He decked it and chamfered the bore, motor is spinning away happily.

Thanks again for the replies.
Garagelu you have a PM.
Next question.
I've decided to go with stock rods, since they will be more than enough for my power goals.
If I get a 'new' crank, will I be able to re-use my rods? I know the one that spun the bearing will have to be replaced. Will I be ok going with used rod from another engine? Or should I buy one from nissan.
This is my first engine build, so bear with me. lol
I plan on taking everything to my machine shop and have it looked over.
