so last night my car was running fine, until me and my friends started bumping some music. i dont have a system or n e thing.. just some upgraded speakers in the car..I have an optima battery also. so i was driving on the freeway and we were bumping music pretty loud and we were heading to a bar/lounge..then when i exited the freeway and stopped at the stop light my car had died, and my friend(hes drunk) is making fun of me cuz he thought i stalled. then i was like wtf? i had the clutch in and everything. so i started up the car again and then drove.. until i hit the next stop light..i put the clutch in and see my rpms just drop to 0 instead of idling at 1000rpms.. then the car just died again..started the car up again..and drove to our destination..as we left the bar/lounge my car started up and drove fine..we were not bumping music at the time because i was concerned about what has happened to my car..until we hit the 3rd stop sign..the same problem started occurring again and i was clueless..but the car was still drivable as long as i keep the revs up as i put the clutch in to switch to another gear. once i hit the freeway my car was driving fine for like 20mins.. I had my car in gear and when i would let go of the gas it would start bogging out and felt like i was loosing power once i would step on the gas again. the car would bog out everytime i would let go of the gas pedal..
DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT MIGHT BE MY PROBLEM? IF SO CAN YOU GUYS GIVE ME INPUT ON WHAT I SHOULD DO OR WHAT MIGHT MY PROBLEM BE? THANKS I REALLY APPRECIATE IT

clean your ground connections on the battery/intake manifold/frame... If that doesn't help, clean your iacv with brake cleaner
EDIT: it's bumping, not bumbing

Yea, it seems like a loose ground or maybe you need some big capacitors.

ive cleaned most of the ground connections, and my car has been running good for a week or so without problems staying at a constant idle at 1k rpms. until 2day..started acting up again.. i would just let the car stay idle.. and it would idle at 1k rpm.. then suddenly drop under 500rpms then bounce back up to 1k again. and would do that over n over..???

maybe your car doesn't like loud music?....lol get a volt meter and test your alternator and battery, add another ground and check for vacuum leaks, maybe nothing electrical just random vac line cracked or may have disconnected

You're bumbing

A Stock or Aftermarket stereo with upgraded speakers won't drain the battery no matter how loud you play it. It's when you upgrade your stereo sytem to amplifiers that you begin to drain voltage from the battery. Your Optima battery should be able to handle your current system unless your alternator is either dying OR overcharging your battery - voltage regulators within the alternator are known to go bad. Get a voltmeter & check the voltage to your battery. It should be 14 volts with the car at idle.

If your alternator checks out fine, then it's possible that your MAF is acting up... that is the ground to the MAF is going bad OR the wiring harness to the MAF has a short in it. Are you kicking a Check Engine Light when you drive the car? Have you put your ECU into Diagnostic Mode to check to see what Codes the ECU kicks out??

If you haven't already done so, you might want to do that - put the ECU into Diagnostic mode & see what DTC codes it kicks. You'll need a FACTORY SERVICE MANUAL, (FSM) to guide you. Use the SEARCH Function here on Zilvia to find a FSM for your model year car. Once you get your hands on the FSM, use the wiring guide in the FSM to check the wiring harness connectors from your MAF sensor all the way to your ECU. If you can, find a buddy with a spare WORKING MAF & swap them out. It's possible YOUR MAF could be going bad also.

IF BY CHANCE, your car is lowered, check to make sure the driverside front tire isn't rubbing against the wiring harness running along the driverside fenderwell. With the travel of the suspension, the tires have been known to wear thru the plastic fender liner & start to wear at the wiring harness. I've seen this happen on a few lowered S13's & 14's.

Anyhow, hope this helps....

im not getting any check engine lights whatsoever. the car is my daily and yes its lowered.. but it is not rubbing against the harness. its weird because ive been driving the car lately and it hasnt been acting up..it's just been idling lower than it usually does..idles around 6k rpms. but the car hasnt been dying on me or n e thing. its just weird how the car started acting up in the first place???
