i recently owned a black 240sx that i used as a temporary shell due to the amount of rust. Now i just recently purchased a 1990 Nissan 240sx w/ a RHD conversion. i bought it off of craigslist in california for like $800 never actually saw it in person but made my best judgement w/ the pics he had sent me.

Now its time to START! finally ugh
I started to tear down the interior. I pretty much am going to completely strip it to start removing the sound deading which i have never done! but luckily i had heard that dry ice helps break it down so it won't be to bad right?

Sorry for the delay in updates but some things came up my dog recently had to go threw surgery, to sum things up he had a herniated disc and he's recovering just great :) just a FYI the surgery costed $3100 and it was worth every penny i mean he's my baby

i even managed to take off the hatch woot woot score! pretty much my intentions are this 1. strip entire vehicle 2. remove sound deadning 3. fix and repair 4. prep it 4 paint!

okay so i started to go back in the car to remove the sound deadening and i just couldn't keep my eyes off this hidous harness it makes everything look like a train wreck so i decided to remove it

After i unplugged, unbolted, and dyked everything i managed to put all the mess off to the side and made my life alot easier in removing the sound deadening here you can see that i used the heat gun to get all the sound deadening off after getting majority of it off with dry ice

After going to the local parts store i picked up some adhesive remover to get all that gunk off started on the what is now the passenger side

being exhausted from cleaning up the junk left from heat gunning the sound deadening i moved to the front of the car in taking out the engine. now im going to be brief on this because there is so much info in removing and installing a ka but here we go!

removed the downpipe cat and catback exhaust as one combo

while i was down there i got the lower engine harness, slave cylinder, and that tranny gear speed thing i forgot what its called but hey it's removed!

went back on top and removed the upper engine harness, gear shifter, and unbolted the 2 engine mounts

i know probably not a good idea to put chains around the power steering pump but i did it anyways out of eager to get this thing out and about so i started to put the chains on the p/s pump to hoist it out of there until...

Note: i have a floor jack in front of the car to raise and lower the front as needed this helped me more to have a floor jack here then on the tranny like what most people do.

Done! freshly rebuilt KAT installed haha to bad a sr is gonna be going in this bad boy!

Now that the engine is removed its time to remove pretty much everything from the engine bay so it can be prepped 4 paint i started by removing the charcoal canister

this is not nessary to remove when painting the engine bay but since me not wanting to have a/c i started to removed the condensor first started by loosening the lines i had to use a 15/16 wrench! on those suckers

clearly whoever did this rhd conversion must of wanted the brake booster 1 inch away from the firewall awww sigh :(

in this pic you can see that they diffinitely bent the brake lines from lhd to rhd! jeeeze talk about epic fail and as i explore more on this rhd conversion it only seems to just get worse and worse...

wanting to know what the firewall looked liked i went inside the car and decided to completely remove the brake, gas, and clutch pedal. Started by removing the clutch pedal and then by removing the brake pedal to take off the brake booster and only to find something dreadful...

devasted by what i just witnessed i removed the ecu and engine wiring harness first by removing the harness from the ecu

went to the front of the car to loosen a bolt to remove the whole steering wheel assembly and saw that they diffinitely didnt take there time to cut the holes properly they could of at least put some rubber grommets around there hackerd cutting skills

and the other 2 were in the wheel well. i think im going to cry ooooooh and did i ever mention the tools needed to remove the bolts to the gas, clutch, and brake pedal 10mm nope 12mm nope guess again 14mm? no just simply use your HANDSSSSS yes all of these bolts were all hand tightened!

decided to remove the clutch line from the clutch cylinder all the way to the slave

i wanted this high pressure p/s line off so i can unbolt this engine mount but of course as fate has it i was starting to strip it.

so after some hours of trying to tinker with it spraying it with pb blaster and seeing if it will loosen i gave up got some towels and handed my roomate dillon some vise grips and asked him to loosen this and within 2 minutes it was off! yes a sigh of relief

Today i managed to get a few things out of the way i started by jacking up the rear of the vehicle so i can remove the differential.
Here i jacked it up on the diff and raised the rear

get a 36mm socket and remove it with an impact gun

get under the vehicle and get a 3/8 ext and a 12mm socket and a 12mm wrench and remove the axle bolts connecting to the differential

same goes for the other side except i had to use a longer ext

let down on the e-brake

move BOTH axles (since its not lsd) so that you can get to the other bolts

pull up on the e-brake and remove the rest of the bolts

get a 1/2 rachet with a 17mm socket and remove the bottom 2 bolts this is located on the back

then i had to use a 3/8 rachet with a 17mm socket for the 2 top bolts

make sure you have a jack ready underneath the diff

remove the 2 bolts located right near the front of the diff (driveshaft side) with a 17mm socket and impact wrench

lower the jack a little to allow clearance to remove both the axles i used a pry bar to remove it out and away from the diff

if axles are being stubborn tap at it if needed (or pry it out)

once axles are out carefully lower the jack until Diff is out!

exhausted from taking out the diff i was just looking at the sohc and noticed that on the heater hoses they used what seems to look like a sprinkler connector and a prestone cap blocking it off jeeze

soo after selling quite a few things and saving my ass off i managed to finally come up with the money to buy my front clip!?! woot woot score 1 for the mexican. Ya im in no way shape or form reusing that old harness talk about a fire hazard! I will obviously use the sr20det engine harness and actually I managed to track down a complete uncut rhd chassis harness from taillights to headlights. ;)

move over to the intake side and take out the alternator and bracket

look underneath the intake manifold and remove the knock sensor

And finally disconnect everything that is attached to the block that's connected to the intake manifold such as: lines, brackets, metal tubes, sensors, and coil pack plugs.

once the intake manifold is removed plug the intake holes with some towls, and continue removing things that you don't want to get painted such as lines and what not.

FIREWALL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION!
Okay after several months of research, blood, sweat, and tears. I finally managed to get the firewall removed. First things first if you plan on tackling this project please do your research first and don’t have a mind set like me thinking it was going to be a weekend deal.
Tools I used to remove the firewall:
-2x Hammers one small one large (you only really need the large one)
-Reciprocating saw (I used this to make it easier for me to remove both firewalls using different methods)
-Drill
-2x Spot weld drill bits as you can see in the pic, (I used one that looks like a normal drill bit, which cuts threw the spot weld, and one that is an odd looking drill bit that cuts around the spot weld. I used both a combination and in the end the odd looking drill bit seemed to be most effective.)
-Wood and Chisel set (used to separate the firewall once the spot welds are removed)
-Air Hammer (Optional but I “STRONGLY” recommend getting it because there will be spot welds that you drilled out but not all the way)
-Drop light
-Set of steel braided sanding wheels (used to locate the spot welds)
-And lastly 6x 30 packs of budlight (Optional)

hokay so once you have taken off the side plates you will discover a few more spot welds, I was confused for quite a while on where these spot welds are so I took pictures so that other people can use me as a reference.

Take note: of the spot welds on the side and bottom (for the side spot welds it was kind of a PITA to get too with a bit so do the best you can in removing it with a spot weld bit and loosen it up with an air hammer but be careful using the air hammer it will tear shit up)

Heres some reference pics in where all the spot welds are located. "Note" in the last picture you can see that we bent the hell out of the clip so that the fire wall would just slide out easier. Keep this in mind when removing a firewall from the "clip" do whatever you want to the clip to make it easier to get the firewall out, but try not to ruin your firewall in the process.

REMOVING THE FIREWALL ON THE "SHELL"

Where as the firewall on the "shell" do whatever you want to the firewall to make it easier to take out, but try not to damage your shell in the process. Like in this pick my buddie Ryan Berry (whats_next) is cutting the firewall down the middle to make it easier to take out. As you will see me Ryan Berry and Mitch Miller are just going to be taking the firewall out chunks at a time

Well this is the bad sucker that welded my firewall in place im not so sure on what brand or type of welder this is but if you really want to know I can ask. Ryan even managed to swap out the vin number which I was most greatful for just needs a little bondo, sanding, and paint and it wont even be noticable. I really got to say thanks to all the people that helped me Dillon, Wesly, Ryan, John, Mitch, Louis, and K00laid from nico forums. I really couldn't of done it without your help and support.
If I had to do this all over again I would of just cut the firewall and had someone weld it. Drilling out the spot welds is such a PITA and really not worth the time. But I'm glad it's in and over worth now I can really start focusing this build on other areas either than the firewall thank GOD! (sigh of relief)

I just got done cleaning and painting the engine/tranny I first used some cheap engine degreaser and power washed the shit out of it and then brought it back inside the garage to detail it with my little scrubby

and of course I finally sprayed them. If any of you are curious I first spray one heavy coat then wait 10-15 minutes then spray on one light coat and let it sit for 4 to 5 hours at approximately 70-75 degrees "btw I have 2x space heaters in my garage because it's cold out "

Also please replace all your fuel lines the last thing you want for your engine is a fire, so don't over look these, I got 2 feet of 5/16" thick fuel lines that should cover all of them.

I thought I had pictures of me tightenting the whole intake assembly to the block, but I guess I didn't anyways I used a 12mm with a 3/8 extension to tighten everything, I cross hand tightened everything on the intake side where as the exhaust side i'm going to hit the fsm for torque specs.
Make sure you install your intake brackets one here located at the bottom of your intake collector, I impacted it back on with a 12mm socket

Once again this will be a "RHD car" so the line needs to be pointing right if your looking at it in the back of the engine. Ignore the IACV sensor those I mounted in the wrong location it actually needs to be bolted to the top of intake manifold

Finally torque all the bolts to factory spec 27-35 ft lbs, I kept on tightening in a criss cross fashion 1/2 a turn until it was all tighten within spec. Tools needed 3/8 rachet/extension 14mm socket and a 14mm swivel socket "for two of the bolts" I used a 1/2 torque wrench with a 1/2 to 3/8 adaptor to tighten the bolts down.

I was curious if I was really off on the intake side since I didnt torque that side. long story short I was wayyy off so I pretty much went to the intake side and tightened everything down to factory spec. IACV 6.2-8 ft lbs, intake collector and manifold 13-15 ft lbs, rail cap 2.2-2.8 ft lbs, fuel rail 15-20 ft lbs. Better do it right the first time ;)

I first tackled my water pump since I noticed my previous one was leaking it's always recommended to replace it anyways for an "SR" swap. Since the new water pump didn't come with studs, I had to reuse my old ones. I grabbed me some vise grips and a shop rag to keep it from moving.

I used a 10mm wrench and a 10mm 3/8 socket to tighten both bolts together

Then I used the 10mm wrench to loosed the stud off. Do this to all for studs before removing the water pump.

Then start removing all 5x 12mm bolts that are holding the water pump into place

When I removed the water pump it was being stubborn, so I used a rubber malet to beat it off. Two good whacks and it came off. (Oh man does that sound dirty lol)

Used high temp rtv silicone as a gasket and torqued it down to 12-15 ft lbs

I than proceeded to install my turbo lines, I started with water inlet line and put some thread seal tape

I used a 15mm deepwell socket here so it would fit over the fitting. The fitting gets torqued to 14-23ft lbs.

I then used a 13mm wrench to tighten the line onto the fitting

I then proceeded to the water inlet line, put some pipe thread tape on it, thread it by hand, and use a 19mm deepwell socket to tighten it, and it also gets torqued to 14-23ft lbs.

Put the line onto the fitting and tighten it using a 19mm wrench

Now your ready to install the turbo to the exhaust manifold, I actually had to take my exhaust manifold back off. Which was fine for me because I wanted to heat wrap my exhaust manifold. To heat wrap first soak the wrap into a bucket of water "so that it will be easier to wrap and so that you can make it tighter" start by wrapping the bottom of the exhaust and I wrapped the 4th runner then 3rd, 2nd, and finally 1st until my exhaust manifold was completely covered with heat wrap during my "wrapping" I used heat wrap zip ties to hold the wrap into place. Once the heat wrap was complete I used this gasket

And tighten the [email protected]!K out of the bolts with a 14mm wrench once all 4x bolts are tightened you can then tap in the locking plates on the sides to keep the bolts from unloosing. Bolt back the exhaust manifold like you previously did before and proceed

The water line goes to the bottom near the motor mount bracket tighten and torque to 14-23 ft lbs.

Then finally the last water line goes to the back of the engine remove the factory hose and use a flat head screw driver to tighten.

Grab a compressor outlet gasket

Now the Greddy oil filter relocation kit install. Started with the oil filter side of the kit. and used allen wrenches to tighten all 2x holes

With the kit there will be 4x rubber seals you need to place one on this fitting before tightening. Place this fitting to the top and tighten with a 20mm deep socket I used 1/2 rachet

Grab this threaded looking fitting and place a rubber seal underneath and tighten with a 23mm deep socket 1/2 rachet

This side is bolted to the stock threaded oil filter location and it's fairly simple tighten all 3x I believe allen screws 1x on top 2x on the side and grab 2x rubber seals and place them under the 2x fittings tighten the bottom fitting with a 20mm deep socket and the top fitting you have to wait till install.

Grab a oil filter and some oil. Place your finger in the oil and apply it around the rubber seal "doing this helps the oil filter seal better"

I then tightened it with a 14mm socket and I put thread seal tape on this allen screw and tightened that with an allen wrench.

You're not supposed to use teflon tape on AN lines.

They seal with the flare at the end. They will leak if installed like that.

I've never had any problems in the past and i decided to go topmount anyways, so this whole setup got sold

I decided to replace the s13 oil strainer with an s14 oil strainer.

First your going to have to take all 10x oil pan bolts with a 10mm 3/8 rachet. And remove the pan using a combo of a putty knife and hammer.

Next remove the 6x plate bolts with a 12mm socket with a 3/8 extension. Take note of location of the baffle plate before removing it

Your going to need a 12mm socket and 3/8 extension for 2 of the bolts thats holding the oil strainer also a 10mm wrench

Once you remove the oil strainer notice the difference between the s13 vs s14 oil strainer the s13 has a smaller opening where as the s14 has a much larger one. The 10mm bolt for the s14 oil strainer is bolted to a different location and is a PITA to thread on two people helping you will make it easier to do.

First your going to put a new oil strainer gasket then "Loosely bolt up the 2x 12mm bolts"

Me and my buddy confirmed that using just your hands, magnet, wrench, needle nose pliers have all failed in trying to get this god forsaken bolt threaded on.

What we did find out to work just fine was positioning the bolt dead center having a small flat head screw driver keep it in place and "slowly" wrenching on it with a 10mm wrench.

Heres a better pic on how tight of space you have to work with thats why it's better to have the 2x 12mm bolts loosely tightened to allow for more clearance.

Once you have wrenched the bolt in far enough, you can finally squeeze the rachet wrench on it to make it easier to tighten.

Don't forget to tighten and torque the strainer bolts to 12-14ft lbs. Oh and as for the strainer bracket I just goodin tightened it. Once the strainer installed. Now reinstall the baffle plate and torque them to 4.7 to 5.5ft lbs. Then Scrape and remove all the old gasket from the oil pan.

Now apply gasket sealer with one continuous bead all around your new greddy oil pan!

Heres the hardware that came with the greddy oil pan the 4x larger bolts go to the sides of the oil pan where the 6x smaller bolts go to the front and rear. have an allen wrench on standy as well as these bolts. Position the oil pan and screw on all the screws "snug tight" wait about 10-15 minutes then proceed to torque to 4.7-5.5ft lbs. With that low of a number I just hand tightened them.

When I removed the Crank Pulley I uncovered more dirt/grime so I cleaned it up

Okay finally got my gaskets in for my transmission I decided to replace the front trans cover gasket. Since i'm going to replace the pivot ball I removed that first with a 17mm deep socket.

Then got a 12mm socket with a 3/8 extension and loosened all of the front trans cover bolts.

Okay Greddy Pulley Kit Installation, so since I cant read japanese, I decided to do some researching and well the picture pretty much explains it all for the alternator pulley.

Place spacer that should have came with the kit on FIRST and use a 17mm deep socket and gently tap the spacer all the way in.

Replaced the rear oil seal on my transmission everytime I do an sr swap this seal always drips tranny fluid about time I did the right thing and replace it haha.

Me and my buddie wesly got creative and figured out a way to hold the alternator pulley without it spining. I'm sure there is an easier way. but we like to think outside of the box haha. we grabbed my old belt and clamped it to the pulley with vise grips. Then we got some huge pliers to clamp over the belt, so the pulley wouldn't get scratched. As he was holding on to dear life I went ahead and torqued it to 45 ft lbs, I never did figure out the actual torque spec for the alternator pulley but since the power steering pulley is 50 ft lbs I figured it was in the same ball park.

Okay removing the s13 radiator support.. remove on both sides the 14mm bolts

Then remove the horn brackets with a 10mm socket

Now using a power drill and a steel braided wheel. Grind off the primer to bare metal to locate the spot welds there will be a total of about 50 spotwelds 25 on the left and 25 on the right fun stuff. And they are all located....

And finally 2x underneath the rails... It helps to look at the s15 radiator support and then look at your s13 radiator support there quite indentical so the spotwelds should be in the same general area.

I used a spot weld drill bit to obviously remove the spot welds I had previously located.

And I used a combination of an air hammer and a wood chisel to remove the radiator support from the chassis.

Even if you missed some spot welds the air chisel can zip right through them, but I'd be careful doing it you might zip through other parts of the chassis that you don't want to.

After It's all loose and ready to come out the last thing you need to do is remove the 4x bolts on the tension rods on the bottom of the radiator support 2x bolts on each bracket, I used a 14mm socket and an impact to loosen them lowered the vehicle and then proceeded to loosen it all the way with a regular socket wrench.

I mocked up the S15 radiator support everything seemed to align great and then I noticed an issue my S13 tension rods wont reach the radiator support... hmmm I may have to get clever on this one or get some S14 ones since those might be slightly longer.

Tension Rod Dillemma with S15 Radiator support

So this is a pic of s14 tension rod "on top" vs s13 tension rod "on bottom" The main difference is that the s14 tension rod is longer, and will reach to the s15 radiator support.

The S14 tension rod "left" will bolt up with no problem to the s15 radiator support, but the S13 tension rod "right" would have to be modified if I decided to use the s13 tension rod

I decided to replace all my freeze plugs, You have to be very careful doing this normally this is done when rebuilding the engine. As you can tell, I popped my first plug right into my engine dammit.

Sooooo... I decided to remove my valve cover, so that It would be easier for me to take out some freeze plugs. I started by removing the coil packs with a 10mm socket wrench.

Then remove all 13x 10mm bolts holding the valve cover in place, I started with the middle bolt first then proceeded to work my way around the valve cover. "Remember don't forget to have a ziplock bag in hand for all the bolts"

I then removed this hose that connects to the pvc valve, I believe thats what it's called.

Then give it a tug to break the gasket seal and remove the valve cover.

I managed to find the freeze plug, I accidently popped into my engine.

What you want to do is SLOWLY tap one corner of the free plug with a flathead screwdriver and hammer until it looks like this.

Once the freeze plug is out clean the surface area where your going to put the new freeze plug in and use a combination of a 21mm socket and hammer to "seat" the new freeze plug in.

In order to get to one of the exhaust side freeze plugs I needed to tap out the oil tube, I used a large flat head and a hammer to tap it out.

The Nismo mounts did not come with the brackets that are on the OEM ones, so you need to remove the brackets that are on the OEM mounts and install them to your Nismo mounts.

ATI Super Damper Install! First I just used the supplied bolts to just hand tighten the p/s pulley to the crank pulley.

Then thoroughly clean your crankshaft and apply a small amount of antiseize.

Theres only one way to put the pulley on and unlike the OEM crank pulley the ATI crank pulley is a tight fit, so to get it started I used a rag on the pulley then placed a board and hammered it till it was on securely.

Then used the impact gun to completely "seat" the pulley in place, I used a 27mm socket btw.

I then pulled the rubber grommet out and snaked the door connector out.

The Process is the same like the firewall. First I used a steel braided wheel to sand down the paint to locate the spotwelds, I then marked the spotwelds with a permanent marker and began drilling them out with a spotweld drill bit. After all the spotwelds were removed I then used a combination of a wood chisel and hammer/ air hammer to remove the brackets.

Yesturday Derek and I knocked out a few things I had to put on my engine.
RAS Installation

First thing was tackling the HKS RAS. In this pic Derek is figuring out which RAS goes on which side. If i'm not mistaken they only go on one way, so don't get worried if you might of installed them incorrectly.

Now begin to loosen the cam bolts in alternating order.

Once you have loosen and removed the bolts Install the RAS as shown

This pic was suppose to be the 2x washers we added on the two bolts on the intake side, so the oil squirters would be level, but I failed in showing which two bolts it was.

In Order to get to one camshaft bracket bolt we had to remove the bracket that was above the timing chain.

Now torque down the camshaft bolts by refering to the fsm

HKS RAS Installed and torqued down. Note on the exhaust side the baffle plate is deleted.
Valve Cover Installation.

Put on both new valve cover gasket and spark plug well gasket.

Make sure you scrape off all of your old gasket with a razor blade and clean off any debris or oil by using a towel with brake parts cleaner sprayed onto it.

With a Wave of the hand the valve cover should magically appear onto the head. Don't forget to use the grey type of gasket sealer on the "half moons" there should be two in the front and two in the rear. Refer to the FSM for torquing the valve cover down correctly.

Derek installing the NGK Iridium IX Spark Plugs with a heat range of 7 don't forget to anti-seize them before you tighten them.

I got rid of my oem CAS cover and purchased a circuit sports CAS cover powder coated Candy Blue.

Hks shifter springs increases the shift feel by avoiding mis-shifts you can adjust the feel by changing the springs to soft or hard or a mix of both.

Seriously It's going to be surprising how long this motor lasts, I've never seen a used engine with so much sludge in it before, it should be a miracle if the rings aren't toast in this thing. Have you ever heard this engine run before, you seem to be doing all of these upgrades and making sure everything is all nice and pretty on the outside.

I hate to break it to you but all of that shit is going to get dirty when you have to tear the block and head down to rebuild it. I see nothing but a road of high temps ahead for you when this thing is running again.

Honestly it's hit or miss, as long as he let the silicon get some air before putting it on the block he'll be fine. The oil pickup has a filter screen for a reason. It's no different than having a timing chain guide break off and float in your oil pan for who knows how many drift event's like my motor.

ok so a few things I need to let you people know there is a vid clip of the engine running before I bought it and had it shipped over it's a link to youtube also when the clip arrived I was able to start it, but only for a little bit sounds just fine started right up.

When me and my buddie removed the spark plugs they werent fuel fouled or were caked with oil, but they still needed to be replaced due to be worn, so we concluded the owner of this sr most likely didnt change the oil or spark plugs, but when my buddie took a peek inside the spark plug hole he noticed that he was able to see the stamp on the piston. He said that on most sr he's seen there so dark that all you see is a black piston.

On start up im going to seafoam the crap out of this thing, and change the oil sooner than normal. To try and clean up the sludge build up. I do have intentions on building it, but i am going to rock it with stock internals until it blows by then hopefully i have all the parts i need for a rebuild.

I purposely chose to work with simple bolt-ons first, I mean ya it's pretty. Do I think it will be pretty once I drive it periodically psh no this isnt my first rodeo ladies and gentleman.

As for the oil pan rtv it will be fine like already stated before there is a strainer on the oil pickup tube if anything were to go wrong

Oh and I know im paying less attention to the external of the car thats because my focus is on completing the engine and drivetrain then i'll focus on other areas such as suspension exterior interior etc. I dont want to get out of hand on things.

As for the guy who doesnt like the s15 conversion sorry, but I think it looks delicious maybe thats why they call it a strawberry face

Also ask about Blue808's catch can mod for the valve cover.... Stock 180sx Vacuum to crank case breather is crap..... do the mod if you are doing any serious drifting or driving....

Right it would make inspection so much easier as well. In kansas all they do is make sure to see if the Title matches the vin # plus I have this whole build thread for them to look at if they were to question me.

As for the heater hoses i'll most likely replace them, because I plan to have a heater in my car, but that is still up in the air right now.

And as for the catch can, I had intentions on either buying an aftermarket one or having someone fab me up one such as how Blue808 did, but I don't plan on doing that until the engine is dropped in.

Thats crazy how you recognize this car, and from the pictures the previous owner sent me everything seemed legit. Once I decided to remove the dash that's when I really started to look thoroughly at the conversion. I cant wait to send pics of the car when it's done to the person I bought it from. :boink:

Still don't know why you guys do RHD swaps. Here in Canada for the price you picked up the dash and parts to convert, you could have purchased a 180sx with CA18 here.

Money that should have gone into your engine.

I havnt got a DUI in this vehicle, I literally bought the car and just started to do work on it. However with the ton of work on this thing, and you used orange sillicone for everythign? "C'mon man" That stuff looks so tacky. And you didn't bother to tear the engine down/clean it out/check it out? All that nice bling could goto waste if the engine is gunked up for got crap in it.

Either way, props on the build...didn't mean to nitpick but that sort of 'little stuff' goes a long way.

Ya thats why im going to put the engine on hold for now I'm focusing on the conversion and chassis right now then suspension wheels and brakes. I thought about it really hard and well I had the s13 rad support already drilled out and well the whole reason why I did that was for the sole purpose of no turning back. I'm going to go through with the conversion, and I think the only way I can pull this off is if I go widebody and slam this thing to the ground. Wheel fitment is going to be crucial here thats why I'm goin to bang the rears to 70mm and the fronts to 30mm kind of like what Ill garage did on that s13.5 I'll get Meisters so fitment will look allot like it but slammed more and most likely a different tire choice, I dont like theirs.

This is my first build thread the only thing close to a build that I did was a video on youtube, which I'm sure allot of people have seen, when I was 16 and did my first engine swap. It's an sr20 swap into a 240sx surprized? I absolutely loved the car, but in late 2008 I had totaled it. Heres a link to the video enjoy! I wouldn't buy new OEM Nissan silicone either, FSM calls for Ultra Grey or equivalent. Again, love the work, but there is nothing more irritating to me than seeing an engine with orange silicone all over.

To be honest its really least of my worries i mean when the engine is in I doubt ull even notice it, and I plan to rebuild it so i'll remember to take ur advice into consideration

Hahah Ya I bought the whole kit from a guy here on zilvia super good deal I had to jump on it asap. Since dmax usa shut down I didn't even try to bother to ask the guy if I can just buy the sideskirts and rear bumper only. I plan to sell the 180sx type III front bumper, and as for the s15 front bumper... I should be receiving it sometime next week. :)

I'm blown away by your attention to detail and workmanship. Great build! IMO you should just build the motor before putting her back in after seeing all that sludge on the valves. It's like wiping before you poop it just doesn't make sense.

My plans are too tear it down and replace everything necessary to stock minus the arp rod, head, and main bolts I also plan too replace from oem too aftermarket... hks head gasket and cam gears. My power goals are 300-350 hp which I hear is safe for stock internals.

Installed pistons and rods, I gotta say torco assembly lube is amazing it reduces friction so much my rotating torque on the crankshaft (With all the pistons installed) was about 9 ft lbs, which is not that much at all.

Timing Guides and Chain Installed. No: 1 piston at TDC. Also you can notice that I hot tanked the block, and installed new freeze plugs.

I installed the oil pump/timing cover, and also the harmonic balancer. I didnt bother too torque the crankshaft pulley until after I get the head and timing set.

Flipped the engine over and installed the baffle plate, and started to install the oil pick up tube. Before installing the oil pans, I made sure I squirted oil at areas I might have missed.

Greddy oil pan installed as well as the other baffle plate. This is the current "state" of my engine. *Note there is no excessive RTV haha i'm learning!

Ahh so clean 5 angle valve job, new exhaust valve guides, and seals. All thats left for me to do is to install the CAS, timing bracket, timing tensioner, freeze plugs, and the valve cover.

I bought some roll around wheels MB Battles. The MB Battles are staggered, 17x9.5 +15 and 18x9.5 +15, with Federal 595's 215/40 front and 225/40 rear. Here's a mock up on what it looks like in the rear, I only bought the rear 5 lug conversion, so to be continued for the fronts.

Dereck came over a while back to help mock up the over fenders, we first taped it all up with painters tape then worked around with it, and drilled holes at the appropriate areas and installed Clecos before putting actual rivits in them just to make sure everything looks dead on. I'd have to say it came out pretty well.

I went down to Lincoln MO not only to check out the progress, but he needed the doors and taillights to begin the next job. But after a 2 hour drive I realized I forgot the center section of the taillight shit lol. The car seeing it before my eyes was breathe taking to say the least. I wanted him to lower the lift but I had to head back before it got dark (because I'm afraid of the dark duh)

The front crash bar still has a little bit of work to do, but it looks done to me! That mock up of the s15 front btw is 10x better than me laying it all on there like a pile of wood. You cant really notice, but you can kind of see I got my front 5 lug and the MB Battles are finally on.

So I recently got some news on how my car is doing at the shop, the front and rear crash bar are done, metal fender work is done, and all rear aero is fitted. The S13.5 conversion fenders are getting glass work done to them because they were short at the doors. I'll see if I can get some pictures soon.

I actually bought the valve cover off zilvia from someone who was parting their car. There's a website I went to that can do burnt titanium finishes dunno whats it called its shop is from Cali I know. But the turn around time was insane like 2 months its a long process for just one piece. Wouldn't recommend dippedparts dunno if their still in business but the customer service blows.

Cage has been all anchored, and the drives floor have been dehumped. All the aero is fitted. Getting ready to glue the quarters and rivet all the aero on. Next will be a little body time to make fenders match doors.

Wow! I retract my previous statement. Im glad you didnt end up parting it out. I know its not easy to keep plugging away when youre riddled with credit card debt.
Its especially hard when you focus on the motor, interior, suspension etc.. And the exterior is a million colors and ill fitting.
So kudos to you for pushing ahead!

Been a while but here's a late update I bought a Recaro SRD seat plus a Bride rail, so finally now we can get rolling on finishing up the cage. I'm currently saving for a fuel cell then comes the fun stuff suspension :) Onto the pics
