you guys ever experience this? i had to make up the phrase, but just, that short period before you sell your daily, when everything starts going wrong and you don't trust it anymore. how did your last car betray you?

right now i'm dailying a '97 Acura 3.0CL. it just rolled over 100k in june. since then, the driver side window regulator died, leaving the window down when i was about a hundred miles from home, awesome. this just happened, i'm going to wedge the window in place with a 2x4 until my new regulator shows up in the mail. then the starter went out a county over. thank god for AAA. then the sunroof stopped opening. i still haven't fixed this. then the alarm started going off at random in the middle of the night. turned out to be a bad hood sensor, so i just bypassed it, because it'd be nice if somebody stole this thing. also, the cv joints click like crazy when turning. i've been too lazy to fix this. then it started sticking in second until it warms up. i changed the tranny fluid with very little improvement. all of this in the last two or three months. awesome.

my 91 coupe with N/A SR. and silvia front SSR mesh, and RSR suspension and other knick-knacks... almost sold to some kid for $6500 delivered in riverside...

but morning i was suppose to deliver it, fuel pump died and the kid backed out cuz he was eager to get a 240sx. and bought a 240sx elsewhere....POS car.

then i jst sold it to someone else for half the price

96 dodge neon....yea i know, first car....didnt even sell it, had to scrap it....thing just about died on me every other day going to and from school....had fuel issues...tried just about every thing to fix it, and it went through a couple mechanics before the cost of fixing became more than the car was worth....before it got scrapped i would f around and take it for hot laps around my neighborhood....seems the only way to drive it is to floor it anywhere and everywhere you go....sad i didnt get to have more fun with it before the tow truck got it....

my sort of daily driver, which i dont even own, but im allowed to drive it around sometimes, VW Golf MK2, clutch likes to turn the car while stopping off, the 1st, 3rd and 5th gear are somehow loose, no KAT, somewhat phucked exhaust, but it drives, and its alright for the time when Silvi's off the road.

I think there is only 3 screws holding on my steering column surround, when I drive it makes a buzzing noise from vibrating where there are no screws. Drives me absolutely nuts.

i'm buying a 300zx. getting back into a brand i understand. i was going to get a 3rd gen TL, but fuck that shit, Z32 TT. my buddy just bought a z33 'vert, i need something faster.
fucking Acura hunk of shit. just got done duct taping my window in place, in front of my roommate, at this party, and then we're playing beer pong and he's all "wooooah duct tape window" and i'm like "FUCK i need a new daily", and it sucked. but then this chick was like, "lol i'm a generation behind you, i didn't learn HTML, i was just a script kiddie" and i was like girl wearing glasses who i can't legally buy beer for, you're alright. and then she snatched my evo from my grasp and into my address book, she did insert her digits, and yea, BustedS13 sported the half chub all night in anticipation of things to come.

Uh good luck with the Z32 LOL. That's like a lateral move if not going down a notch in terms of death rattles with what's going on now.

how did your last car betray you?

My last car ('87 Celica, circa 2005) betrayed me when I cracked the oil pan on a huge dip. Sadly, I didn't notice the damage until two days later, when the engine spit all the oil out and seized after driving 15 miles with no oil. It had the worst rod knock I'd ever heard in my life, and I just said "fuck it" and drove the 15 miles home.
It then sat in front of my house for 8 months before I finally worked up the courage to call the junkyard and have them pick it up.

Shit... The car didn't betray me... I betrayed it.

My current daily (the S13) makes lots of noises that some might call "death rattles". I ignore them most of the time. Though... My screaming power steering pump is growing annoying. And the rattling from the front left suspension is irritating. And the trans whine is more pronounced since I installed a Peak tranny mount yesterday... Oh well. I'll get around to fixing these things eventually.

A Z32 engine bay is tighter than a midget's vagine, dude.

You'll see. You'll be sorry.

Not passing SMOG for the new buyer.

And a bunch of other shit went bad too after he got it.

Stuff that never happened to me.

94 integra dd- 80k on the dial.

Was my dad's but wanted it sold. I drove once and a while for MPG's (70 miles round trip to work). Cool car until it was noisy as phuck from chopped ass tires. Shrugged it off like its no big deal and just put 2 12" subs in. Then both window regulators started to bind and get stuck half way. Shortly after that the ABS light stays on. Radiator just cracked so I had to replace that. Now it gets all goofy around 2nd gear corners and slips really shitty.

other then that its cool.......

youre going to take it real deep, but its not going to hurt as bad as: you knowing that you could totally fix whatevers up with your car. just sayin

didnt mean to double post.

suspension, brakes, electrical, basic maintenance, any procedure that will take less than two hours in my garage, and even light body work, i've got no problem with. but if i'm going to be up to my elbows in grease for a whole day or something, on a commuter car.... nah, that's not happening anymore. it's not worth the aggravation.
what should i be looking out for? what goes bad? i know the timing belt is crucial, but what else?

I don't think there really is those "nacks" with z's of that gen, yet more so be on the understanding that any "normal" job on most vehicles is pretty difficult with the 300. I have a couple of friends that have them and they are still in love and drive them soooo
