I have passed all my home inspections by the city I'm on the final so inspector came today and said I needed another receptical on a counter space since it's 12 inches. Now I got a 3 way switch in that counter space I would like to put the receptical right next to it... Now my main question is can I tap into the 3 way? This is by far my easiest option if I am able to do it... My next option would be is yo tear up some drywall and tap into another receptical I really don't want to that since more work... Any comments appreciated thanks!

You should just have asked the inspector when he was there.

It depends on which 3-way switch it is. Generally, one of the 3-way switches will have the incoming power, and the other will only have switched power coming from the other switch. Also, it is typical in kitchens that the outlets be on their own circuit or two, as kitchen appliances generally have pretty high loads.

I got 2 gfi in the kitchen with their own circuits, but I actually have a regular switch I can tap into
