Its so hard for me to distinguish all the lines. Being color blind isn't helping either, LOL!

weird about Mazda. Ford owns 13% of them so how does Toyota own them? i know Mazda bought back about 10% of thier stock from Ford a few years ago. looks like Mazda is the only one posted 2 times on that graph

Some of these companies interchange their cars so to speak...

I know the 2nd gen Ford Probe is based off the Mazda MX6.

Corporations are owned by shareholders. It should not be terribly surprising to find more than one manufacturer owning shares in another manufacturer. However, I have not heard anything about Toyota and Mazda. Also, simply stating 'ownership' is misleading. Toyota doesn't 'own' Subaru, they are a minority shareholder in the company.

Regarding Tesla, I think it is more than just a partnership with Mercedes and Toyota. I think both of those companies own shares of Tesla, making them 'owners', not just collaborators.

Shanghai GM is also misrepresented. Shanghai GM is the collaboration between GM and SAIC, it is technically an entity jointly owned by GM and SAIC.

Lamborghini doesn't actually have a line to it, though it is actually owned by VW through Audi. I am pretty sure legally Audi is the owner of Lambo.

Hyundai owns a good chunk of Kia

Pretty sure VW owns a chunk of Suzuki too.

Well the list is a bit confusing in that it doesn't always list the percentage of ownership.
Obviously Toyota doesn't own Mazda, IF GM already owns an interest in Mazda.

Also kinda surprised with some of the new ownerships.
It's scary how much car companies the Indians & Commie Chinese now own.
(note to self to stay away from said companies)
