Okay so I have been searching but can't find anything. I want to run a enthalpy tuned s13 ecu in my 1996 obd2 s14, so i want use a conversion harness to run the ecu. Do I need to change the distributor to an s13 one with the external coils? Or can I just use the ecu as a plug and play with the harness?

If you have the ECU conversion subharness, nothing else is touched. If you want to use an S13 distributor you'd need an entire S13 harness too.

but its not necessary to run the s13 distributor? the guy i take my car to said i need to, because youre changing from obd2 to obd1. all i need to know is if i use the s14 distributor with internal coil unlike s13 external, will my car be okay? can anyone else confirm? thanks for your answer

You will not have to run the distributor, just the harness as Russ said.
FYI - Some 95's (s14) were OBD1 depending on production date and they were running the same distributor you're currently running.

No. Just like I said, you can't use the S13 distributor without the entire S13 harness, or at least rewiring the plug to accept it and adding the external coil, neither option is required or will gain you anything.
OBD-I and OBD-II have nothing to do with the distributor. Nothing. The S14 ECCS system uses an internal coil, period, whether they're OBD-I or II. 1995 models meet OBD-I standards, 1996+ meet OBD-II. Again, the distributor and coil have nothing to do with the OBD requirements.
The CONSULT port on that harness just puts it closer to the ECU for easier diagnostics I would imagine, unless they don't tie into the dash harness and allow connection to the existing CONSULT port. Either way, that port doesn't have anything to do with OBD either, ALL 1991-1998 240SXs use that for diagnostics through Nissan.
Quit listening to stupid people who tell you otherwise.

alright thanks a lot, I was wondering why a distributor would have anything to do with an obd ecu conversion. Now i have to find a harness and my ka-t will be complete. thank you projectrdm and edt
