So i was installing a blitz dual sbc boost controller on my rb25 today. After it was installed, I took it out for a ride. I set the controller to 10%, 0% is stock boost. I had a boost gauge hooked up to make sure i wouldn't overboost. So i hit the gas for about 4 seconds and the boost gauge only read up to 7.5 psi, and boom! the turbo blows. I pull over and see ceramic pieces on the exhaust canister. Im sure the boost controller was installed correctly. Now im in the market for an rb25 non ceramic turbo. Also i was thinking of buying a t2 to t3 flange adapter and get an sr t28. Has anyone heard of putting an sr t28 with a flange adaptor? Or what do you guys think happened to the turbo? Any input is appreciated. Thanks

dont think so, rb25 s1's are the cermic ones im not sure though. Obviously this one is ceramic because there was chunks of ceramic on the exhaust canister. What i want to know is if anyone has tried a t28 from an sr on an rb25 using an adaptor flange

All the Stock RB turbos use ceramic Exhaust wheels

was the turbo bound to blow eventually, or was it caused by the boost controller?

The RB25 NEO turbo has a steel wheel.

i guess your turbo might have been weak to begin with . Did you get a crazy boost spike after your 4 seconds of 7.5 psi ? cause even still if the turbo was good and hasnt been acting up on you before then it should of been able to take one boost spike.

thats what im guessing that the turbo was weak. no crazy boost spike though.

there might have been a boost spike, I had a friend beside me checking the boost guage. I guess no one happened to look at it while the boost spike. So can someone clear this up, which rb25 turbos are ceramic, and which are steel?

The RB25 NEO turbo has a steel wheel.

From what ive seen and researched they are still ceramic but have a very thick high temp coating of some sort on them to allow them to handle more boost

None of them are, they are all ceramic
