You get pulled over and receive a violation of "improper equipment" or "tampering with DOT specifications" here with those.

Good luck driving around.

I would not want them.

IF you can avoid the police, then good for you!

honest opinion? Aesthetically it is better than yellow. . . but not by much. They look brown, and far too dark.

Legally. . . I don't really know so I don't give a damn :P

It doesn't look UGLY, but nore does it look GOOD. But putting black on an area covering where ligh is emmited from seems kinda like a bad idea in my book.

They look brown, and far too dark.
they are the same shade as the vw european smoked taillights
they do still emit light
with the high beems on its just fine

looks kinda like those gto or whatever brand headlight blackouts that i always see mustangs driving around with. come to think of it, i think they make those for s14s too.

Except those gto things look betta in a way. His look like coke, not quite black, but more towards the brown and still got a little yellow in em.

Never likes smoked out headlights, tails look nice though, juss cuz i love the fd tails

nope. that's not entirely true. only certain types, ones not DOT approved. check it
i believe and trust mike's research on this considering he sells HID so its pretty important to him.

The good news is, PROPER HID replacements such as the Sylvania XenArc and Hella 90mm HID components will still be legal for sale in the US since they have been tested and are DOT-compliant.

Sorry, but that does not look good. I will be surprised if you do not get pulled over. Here in VA....cops will be all over you. Also over time...the paint will dull out and it will look like shit. I did the same things with my corners....and now I had to buy another set because they looked so gross (damn $40 :bash: ). You should have painted the housing black and clean the lenses with wheel polish (I forget the brand).

As for the HIDs.....does that mean I'm limited to retrofits?

i was thinkin about doing that but then i got a little courageous and blacked out the actualy walls of the chrome housing. cleaned the crap out of the lense and presto, black headlights housing headlights with crystal clear lights... not having a digital camera sux so i will post my pics of the whole process shortly.

the yellowish **** is easy to clean man, now you got bigger worries, like cleaning black tint off your headlights.

im not worried about cleaning off the black tint.
and im not stressing how they will look in the future.
they wont be on that long.
im gonna do the r33 1-piece factory projectors next.
this is just a short term fix to those ugly azz american
version lights that the japanese cursed us with
they like to torture us
no turbo, no glass lights, NO SOUP FOR YOU!!!!!!
