View Full Version : Modifying sr20 turbo hardline for ka-t

Hey so I was thinking of modifying an sr20 hardline for my oil feed, has anyone else done this? I know everyone usually does ss lines but idk if i want to spend 100 on lines...i was thinking of cutting off the end of the oil feed hardline where it has the banjo fitting and and running a rubber hose off that, or having an ss line (I have a line, kinda looks like a faucet line lol) that has a fitting and putting a rubber piece to connect the ss line to the hardline. Will the rubber crack from the heat? Any help is appreciated :) or where to find the elbow fitting for the oil feed in the turbo? (preferably a hardware store or autozone or something because I need to get it done asap. thanks

The problem with the idea is that the hardline is smooth, the hose might not clamp properly on the hardline. You're running pressurize oil, it might pop off the hardline. You cant tighten it too much or else you'd end up crimping the hardline.

go to a hydraulic shop and just have them make you a line. mine was like 25 or 30 bucks

It's $100. Man up and buy the right stuff to do the job.

what turbo are u using? where are u sourcing oil feed from?

do u have the adaptor for the feed line. the one that replaces the pressure sensor? if not u should be able to go to a hydrolic (sp) shop n get everything u need.. fittings u need would be 1/8in BSPT for the pressure sensor and 7/16-24 I.F. for the turbo. they should have those fitting w/a -3 an on the other side...then get a length of -3 an hose...dont try to use regular rubber hose or braided hose from home depot...it will not work and if it bust could pose a fire hazard...

wow, to save $100 you will significantly increase the risk in losing oil pressure.

Nice way to start an engine fire.

I think this is the exact reason why KA-T's get a bad rep for "reliability" - you have kids trying to ghetto rig faucet hoses for a critical oil feed line...
