OK this thread is for those of us who want a street turbo KA24. First I really think the key to a good turbo install is the engine management and hacked MAF's, piggy backs, chips and the like are all a compromise. An aftermarket standalone is almost too expensive for a street non race-car.
There IS another way, no one wants to here it because it involves 2 dirty letters : GM. But there are good ECM's from 80's GM TURBO cars which have been completely hacked and allow the adjustment of FUEL, SPARK, and wastegate. These ECM's can be bought for under $50 and reprogrammed on the fly with a laptop with a $150 promulator. They are speed density and run a 2 bar MAP.
These ECM's require no crank trigger only a magnetic pickup distributor.
Does anyone know how to put a magnetic pickup distributor on a KA24?

2 bar map? WTF? That's no good for anything. Did you typo?

2 bar which is good to 14.7psi, I believe people are modifying this 7749 Computer to run a 3bar. The code has been completely hacked, but I can find no info on the Nissan distributor, so it may not be possible to do on a Nissan

With some mad electronics skills and some radioshack parts you could modify a stock CAS signal to emulate a magnetic pickup.
I'm sure you could replace a 2bar sensor with any map sensor you like as long as it has the same voltage range. I mean you're custom making the program anyway.

Nissan distributer fires every 180 degrees on one wire and 1 degree on the other wire in pulses. How many times per rev does the GM magnet pickup fire?
You need to block off some of the little holes that let light go through so there are the right number of signals per rev and then use resistors and capacitors to convert it to a sine wave.

I've heard the old L18/20B distributor fits the KA24. I know Datsun made some magnetic pickup distributors that people have converted to HEI these would work with a GM ECM. I don't know if the L18/20B distributor is magnetic pickup.
Here is a link about the ECM:

I would think that modifying the CAS signal electronicaly to simulate the magnetic pickup would be doeable if one had a scope

Do you have anything where it talks about the distributer?
I guess they didnt mention it because 3rd gen fbodys already have magnetic?

The HEI ignition system typically uses a six degree crank reference angle and it used 4 magnets, thats all I have found. Looks like there were magnetic pickup distibutors used in the datsun 510 which fits the KA24:
